Can anyone please tell me the size difference from standard to touring screen. I've tried search with little success. I have standard fitted and out in rain yesterday it was my arms and shoulders taking the brunt of the weather. I know everyone is different but I'm 6 foot and have screen on highest setting, this directs all the turbulence around shoulders and head area. Is it worth trying the Yamaha touring screen or an aftermarket one like puig or givi ........or just a screen extender? If it's an extender do they create extra wind noise?

Cheers

Hi there Richard, The touring screen is 2" taller. I just got a Madstad bracket and called it a day with the standard one. I will tell you it's really easy (and expensive) to get caught up in trying to find the perfect screen. I suggest to get a cheap plastic trash can. Then cut some pieces off in different shapes and tape them to your stock screen. After you find what works best, order the screen that matches your measurements.

lots of posts on the forum about wind screen variations. I am the same size and added a MRA X-creen and turbulence is much improved

6'4" here, Vstream touring, I can ride 60mph with the visor up with barely any wind on top of my helmet and the screen is not at the highest yet. I can see 30ft down the road over the screen so I never look "'through it" when riding unless i'm going real slow.

I'd never go back to a smaller windscreen.

I'm 6'3" have the oem tour screen, moved it higher than the high position and still put a 2.5" extension on top of that!
Darn near perfect now. It was misting on the way to work this morning and hardly got wet, just a little on the helmet.
I still look OVER the screen.

What year is your Tenere ? 12-13 take different shield than 14+.
Mine is a 13 and it came with the tall shield that was pretty lousy, after 35,000 miles I finally spent the money for the biggest VStream and wow it’s a major improvement ! a friend took it for a test ride and ordered one the next day.
Mine also has the Yamaha wind deflectors and I wasn’t sure how much they help but I took a Tenere without the deflectors for a test ride last week and found out those deflectors do help a lot , if I do buy a new Tenere I will also buy the deflectors.

Mine is a 2014 tenere, will also look into the wind deflectors, just don't want to spend a fortune on different screens to find the right on :p

I have a gen2 with a madstad and the stock screen. On top of this is a flip up spoiler from a Vstrom touring screen. Also fitted are the winglets and mirror extensions and this little lot works well for me at 6'7"ish and a couple of pies heavier than I should be.

As has been pointed out, finding the holy grail is easier than finding the perfect screen set up. This seems to be a theme with adventure bikes as I went through all this rigmarole with my vstrom. I tried a slipscreen and a Calsci only to end up with the stock screen fitted with a flip up spoiler. Could have saved myself a fortune had my crystal ball been working...

6'6" here.

On my Gen 1 I got the Madstad bracket and the MRA taller screen with spoiler. That worked just fine.

On my Gen 2 I tried the Yamaha Touring screen on the OEM bracket, but it just wasn't high enough. I thought about getting a spoiler to retrofit on the Touring screen, but just got another MRA screen with spoiler and called it done.

The key (for me) is the spoiler. At the right angle it delivers a pocket of calm air while you can still look over it, not through it.

Ive got the Yamaha touring high shield with a Puig adj wing added. Similar to the MRA & it works great. Ive also got a Stelvio with a Givi taller shield & the Puig wing....same results.
Ive used MRA Vario wings on several of my Stroms in the past with good results too

Youre right....its the wing mostly
