I just installed mine on Wednesday. The plastic screws that they sent would not work with the well nuts in the kit. I went to the hardware store and got 6 screws that would work with the nuts (the only problem, stainless, not black). I think the plastic screws had the wrong pitch to their thread, I had to dig around for a bit at the store to find screws with the right pitch.

That is so bizzare .... I don't understand how they managed to get it so wrong .... it really must've been a duff batch. As I said previously mine were not a problem and I only got the about a month ago.

How on earth did you manage to do that  Did you happen to be doing a bit of fettlin' in the midst of a tornado or something ::) :)
Very Carefully. Twin sons that are 6, with their younger brother loose in garage. Bad combination. You would think I would learn with how much they have cost me alreay, being chips off the old block. ::010::

I found them at Ace or TrueValue Hardware, cheap. So I am good to go. Went with metal screws so the black sharpie is a great idea. ::012::

By chance would anyone happen to know what the part number is for each piece? I managed to take mine off and lose 3 screws and 3 black rubber pieces. That leaves me with enough to re-install one. Should it go left or right side? :-\ LOL

Do I have to drill some place to install the third well nut and screw nearest to the tank?

Nope, installed mine using the OEM mounting holes. Has something else been added to the bike in that location?

If this hasnt been mentioned. If you have the sw motech gps mount, you need to enlarge one hole so you can pass the bolt through holding the gps holder. It's the hole closest to the shield ( front of the bike).

I had to research this thread to find why my install wasn't going as silky smooth as the directions indicate. Pain in but for my kit.

My sure you have the right Gen. I do not believe they interchange between I & II.
Generation 1 will fit generation 2 but you need to cut about 1.5 inches off the front of the deflector, I used a air operated cut off wheel designed to cut steel it was quick and very easy.
For me the deflectors make a pretty big difference

I did same and modified my GEN I winglets for my '18. Used blue painters tape and a sharpie to trace shape I wanted. Dremel with a cutoff wheel did rough cut, sanding disc finished them off. Unless you know it can't tell they've been changed. And yeah, they are a nice addition for wind management.

Is this to clear the adjustable screen mechanism? I’ve fitted Gen1 to my 20 model with no alteration! But I ditched the Gen2 screen set up for a Givi Airflow.

Yes, exactly right. When I got my '18 I briefly considered keeping my Gen I screen and removing the OE adjustment system. In the end, I bought a Gen II screen to replace what I had. Flipped the Gen I screen here.

Any chance of some photos? My bike came with wind deflectors but they only have two mounting holes. Unless I’m talking about something else?
