Mine was a 1974 purple one, I had to wait until 1979 to get a yellow and white speedblock colour scheme on my RD250

looks a bit heavy to peddle around.
Yeah, Yamaha had to put the pedals on it for it to be sold in the UK. I still don't know why it didn't come to the US. Honda was selling the Hobbit over here. It was not cool at all, but it was the very first "motorcycle" I ever rode. Nowhere near as cool as the Yamaha.

I so wish I’d bought a FS1E back when I was 16. At the time the only real advertising medium was a local weekly paper delivered on a Thursday evening, so every week I’d head straight to my then girlfriends house, as her mum got it every week unlike mine, to scan the ads. Week after week nothing came up that I could afford, I’d turned sixteen and still nothing. Until one week a Fantic appeared….£170 with helmet and belstaf jacket, and not far from me. So I bought it, without telling mum or dad. I got the obligatory £30 rider policy from the one broker in town that did just about every 16 yr olds insurance. And then had to ask my mum to run me over to the seller to collect, which rather surprisingly she did without to much grief. 876174C8-1353-40AE-AF7C-B9E23B698A68.jpeg
This isn’t my one, but is exactly the model. Mine was a heap, and repeatedly dropped its top piston ring. After about 10months it eventually dropped the big end too, and that was it. A few years later I upped it into a skip. How I wish I’d waited for a FS1E:rolleyes:
Now after such a crap start to my riding life, How come I really fancy one of these…….?
