The 700 Tracer would have been a better bike. Tall bikes are shit for commuting.

Well Bimota, looks like he got a bike that he likes. I did a lot of research and rode a bunch of the big adventure bikes before choosing mine. I remember the day my Beta fork lug came loose at a big dual sport event almost 300 miles from home. One of the dealers at the event had a Super Tenere. This was 2013. The guy saw my poor Beta in the back of my truck and me not riding.

He let me take the Super Tenere out with the condition I did not take it off road and have it back before 5:00 that evening. I remember seeing Mono Lake in the distance and not wanting to get off the bike and just ride it into the sunset. It was the most comfortable bike I ever swung a leg over. I saved for 5 years to get mine!

I never though about tall bikes being an issue in any instance. I'm remembering when I was commuting and I can see where a lower seat height would be more comfortable for day in day out riding.

Right on Rob. That's what it's all about. I too really like the 700. If I did not already have a dual sport that T700 would be on the top of my list. As it is right now I am looking hard at getting a Yamaha YZ 125X for my next bike.

I speak from experience with a 2010 660 Tenere. Its ok when moving but stopping for traffic lights etc and junctions. Over here alot of our roads camber for the water, you go to put your foot down at a stop and the ground aint there ! . Or even a pothole can catch you out.

I dunno. After switching from my ST1300 to the Super Tenere, one of the first things I noticed was that the taller saddle height gave me a better, more commanding view of the traffic. Both bikes were used almost daily to commute 92 miles round trip at rush hour traffic for several years, including lane splitting about half the distance each way. I came to view the taller height as an advantage.

At 31", my legs are not long. I keep the seat on "low", and never have both feet flat on the ground. I guess if you spend a lot of time at a standstill in heavy traffic, it may become a bother. . . . but, once she's moving, your feet should be on the pegs. It's one of my peeves, seeing people with their feet/legs out to the sides like outriggers. It's dangerous. In my opinion, it's also a sign of a lack of skill. I don't think there's a class anywhere that promotes that technique.

The Tenere is a great commuter. I get nervous splitting lanes when I have the boxes mounted, but otherwise. . . . she's a dream.

I plan on keeping my tenere for at least five more years, but if i had to replace it today i would get the t700.

As i get older, this bike feels heavier. That trend isnt going to reverse.
