Welcome to the forum, Seabee-ken.
Sorry to say that when I bought an Altrider rack I tossed the OEM in the bin, otherwise I would have given it to you.
I recommend that you find something more robust than the original, flimsy plastic rack.
Yours,
Rick

There is a spacer to remove if you want the rear rack at the same level as the area under the passenger seat. The passenger seat is removed by taking out the two bolts in front under the rider seat. Some bikes will require the rack to be slightly clearanced in order to clear the passenger grab handles when in the low position. Rear rack on Ebay for $56.70+ shipping.

This part is found in the "seat" section of the part diagrams and is the same for all years. (there are silver and black versions, IIRC). Retail is around $120 USD.

So I have spent way to much time today reading and have decided that I am just going to make my own. I have a 1500 Goldwing for the wife and I so I think the rear seat and all needs to be taken off and I need to build some stuff....
I'll post pics when I'm done.

Good plan. .125" thick works, but flexes a lot if you have overhang. .187 is a nice middle ground between rigidity and weight. Have fun with the project. Check out water jet cutting in your area.
