jumped the wires on the side stand. It was nice and lubed inside. Didn't help the problem though. The last thing I did to my bike was. Put the Mccruise on and everything had been working fine. Maybe I can test the new clutch switch. I hate to throw another $37 at a switch that I cant return.

how to deactivate the cruise, use the brake, have a deactivated button, or can you deactivate it also with the clutch?
Yes,you can deactivate the cruise by using the clutch but the cruise will remain “armed” waiting for a resume or new set speed. The same is true if you use the either front or rear brake.

Aftermarket cruise control does not necessarily work like the OEM.

Tenman, sorry to say it, but remove the McCruise connections, one by one, until you find the culprit. Something is interfering with the normal functions.

I noticed today that I'm having to pull the clutch a little further to deactivate the Mccruise. Got me wondering if my new clutch switch is faulty.

You should try with the switch out of the handlebar, but without unplugged any cables. The switch works outward when you push the lever clutch. maybe, the lever touches the handlebar, when pull, but it’s not enough for the switch to activate
if the switch is all out, the ecu would take it as the clucht lever is pull

It may have been mentioned earlier, I don't remember, but put a jumper across the clutch switch wires. If the bike now starts, in gear, clutch pulled or not, with the side stand up, your clutch switch is the culprit.

I'm gonna try jumping the clutch switch. I've never had a fault code show up.The damn biting gnats are so bad here. I'll try it when they go to bed. Thanx

I used the search and read a ton of stuff on the clutch switch. After not finding what I was looking for. I decided to post. My gen 1 wouldn't start in gear with the clutch pulled today. I'm assuming the clutch switch has fizzed out. Anybody changed it?
I just paid attention to my start up today. My '12 will not start in gear with the kickstand down. It will start in gear with the stand up.

I ride the first generation S10. I have the same problem. My side stand is okay., Bike will not start in gear with stand down except if the gear is in neutral, but I cannot start the bike in gear even with the side stand up? But the answer does not seem clear in what has been said so far. Maybe I missed it, please help. Thank you.

Killed my 2012 the other day after I stopped for the mail. It would not start in gear. put it in neutral and went on to the house. Took the clutch switch apart cleaned it up and applied dielectric grease and all is good again. Pretty cheap looking switches on these bikes considering the weather they may be used in. I have had trouble out of the clutch switch and front brake switch.

Clutch switch, apparently. Clean yours first. Bypass the wires with a jumper to see if that cures the problem if cleaning does not. (before buying a new clutch switch.)

My second new clutch switch is on back order. So I took my original and the new switch and swapped the parts inside to see if that would make one that would work. NO.

I finally got my 2nd new clutch switch. Still no joy. RATS Won't start in gear with the Mccruise unhooked at the clutch switch. If somebody needs a clutch switch. I've got an extra.

I sent Mccruise an email. The guy called me in about 5 minutes. He sounded like Steve Irwin. It was kinda hard for a redneck (me) to understand him. We went thru a few tests and came to the conclusion that its not the cruise. Bummer Thanx for the input.

@Tenman

What's the latest on this situation?

Feels like I just power-watched the last season of Game of Thrones and the TV went out with 20 mins to go in the finale!
