I will not be posting for a while as I will be going to Playa del carmen for around 4 months. My only daughter, who lives there, will be having our second granddaughter.
If anyone wants to come to Mexico or better yet Mexico City I will happily put you up.
I think the best riding in Mexico is around the Real del Monte area. There is an area called Sierra Gorda whic is a tad further North which is truely spectacular.
There is camping in Huasca at around 6 dollars a night with hot showers and a cold swimming pool.

I may go to the Classic Mororcycle get together here in Mexico City tomorrow. You could get a chance to see what old bikes Mexicans like. A spoiler the most popular old bike begins with a B and isn’t BSA.

Classic Bike meeting. Nowhere near as many BMWs as I expected which is fine by me. I think the best bike there, apart from mine, was a beautifully restored Yamaha 2 stroke twin. I am mot sure what cc it was. Maybe somebody knows. I sent this fairly large parcel from Mexico City to Playa del Carmen. Registered mail with a tracking number 53 pesos which is about 3 dlls.
Nothing to do with bikes but I like to show how cheap some things are in Mexico.

These Carabela 350s were terrible whem they were new back in the late 70s. They were made in Mexico and used a 350 twin 2 stroke engine. This one was the sport model. They made a standard which was popular as a messenger’s bike. I don’t many messages got through.

I’ll post some pics of Playa del Carmen. Scooters and small cc bikes are big there.
We are not sure how long we will be there but probably June. Once we get back I want to get away for a couple of weeks on the bike.
It is good to know people are reading the posts. I hope to inspire some of you to head South and visit my adopted country. It is full of great places, wonderful people and amazing food. That makes it pretty much like the USA. I am always willing to help people out with info on Mexico.

Well as I called the thread Wondering in Mexico and I won’t be wondering anywhere for a few months I thouhjt I would post some old pics from previous trips . These ones show a different way to get into Mexico. You won’t be able to do the Mexico paperwork once you get across but will have to ride to, I rhink, Reynosa to do it. These pics are from 2010 when we rode to Indianapolis for the MotoGP 1E41E630-3EC9-4F6D-B5C2-815A3B85712D.jpeg6D2B23A6-746E-47C3-AC25-12CCD5BF40EC.jpegC07C9B75-5C1B-4F74-946C-C61FD853C787.jpeg051937C6-CE16-479E-B440-07D6DFB3A420.jpeg

Here are some pics of my brother’s trip to Mexico in Dec 2012. He has been diagnosed earlier that year with prostate cancer. This would be his first and sadly his last trip to Mexico. He loved every minute of it. I got him a Suzuki Boulevard for him and we had to listen to “Born to be Wild” every morning.

We rode around in the mountains for 12 days on great mountain roads.
We camped for 3 or 4 nights until Cliff discovered hotels were cheap by English standards. We visited Xiltla where Sir Edward James built surreal staircases going mowhere. He wanted to be buried there and had a grave made. He died in England and his final wishes were never respected. 70CB4C34-92FF-4187-8AC4-7B88ACD03E19.jpegF5DDC7D7-D0BB-40C5-8909-C50CB26AC28F.jpeg0D159E5E-EB1F-4DED-878F-C0E082438325.jpeg91CA886F-D485-4075-AB6B-75C07AC6DAFF.jpeg33F0B5CC-D573-449B-97BE-40B2EA81A5DF.jpeg6A7B0221-9C92-40DF-A285-7CDAF71BB3FB.jpeg
