Simple question - how the devil do I open this?

I want to connect my satnav and have found articles on this fine forum pointing me to the above connector adjacent to the battery. What I CAN'T do is get the blessed thing apart to connect my wiring into it. Any words of wisdom?

TIA

I use a very small flat blade screwdriver to open the connectors.

If you don't have a pin tool, crimp tool, and new pin, it's usually a lot easier and faster to just put a butt splice in the wire like this.

There's a tiny hook which is holding the male and female pieces together (look closely in the centre of the connectors). You need to press the tiny hook in to enable the two pieces to come apart. Best to use a very small screwdriver to press the hook in.
Alternatively, you may wish to use positaps on the wires.

It's been a minute since I messed with this . I added a rigid light. The aux port has a cap on it. Look at it carefully. I believe it is oversized and disguises the port. Play with it till you figure out how to remove it. Once you do it's all downhill from their.

One more thing their are 3 wire with this port. One is ground, one is hot and switched, the third is hot all the time.

Order the proper pieces and make it plug and play.

Hope this helps.
Thanks - I was trying to split it in the wrong place...
