I just installed the Yamaha winglets on my bike and they work great much better than I thought they would. The winglets add a lot of protection, cut down wind noise quite a bit & along with the Yamaha tall screen I'm real happy with the results. I rode with just the tall screen for a few weeks and the tall screen was a great improvement over stock. I'm kinda glad the winglets were back ordered or I would have put them on at same time as tall screen and never would have noticed what difference they make. I might try putting the stock screen back on & see how it performs with the winglets. Anyway well worth $.

I'd like to hear how the winglets work with the stock '14 screen. I looked into the tall screen but it's only 22 inches and not that much taller than stock for me since I'm 6'3".

I will let you know how they work next weekend. I'm only 5'5" and the stock screen still leaves me with a lot of turbulence on the sides on my 2015. My winglets are on order now and should be at the dealer this week.

I have the stock screen and just installed winglets over the weekend and have yet to take a ride. I plan on putting a couple of hours in tomorrow. I'll report back.

The tall screen made a huge difference for me but I'm only 5' 10 I think the tall screen is about 6 to 7" taller than stock. My plan prior to buying the screen was if it didn't work I would just return it and go with an aftermarket screen. There was thread about aftermarket screens for taller guys. I went on another ride yesterday and was at 90mph+ just see how winglets worked, they work great at pretty much any speed. One of my concerns with buying the ST was wind protection because I do a lot hyw miles and my last bike was a 2009 BMW rt which had superb protection yesterday I was thinking the ST is now pretty close to the BMW. Good luck with your windscreen hunt !'

The tall Yamaha windshield is 4 inches taller than the short windshield on the 2014. I just measured mine after overlaying one on top of the other one.

I decided to install the 2010-13 deflectors on my 14 because I like that 3rd mounting point of the first version. With these I'm limited to the top two of four height settings with the oem bracket which suits me fine.... but 5 minutes with a dremel will allow full range motion if needed.

Okay, so I did not get my expected ride in on Monday - needed to haul a 170lb tool chest - but I did commute in this morning. For the record I'm 6' with a 32" inseam. I have the stock screen and just installed the winglets. They do make a difference. ::008:: The reduce the turbulence behind the screen but for me the screen is still a little too short. Using the tried and true 'duck down' method I can tell that another couple of inches of screen will give me a very quiet pocket. Now, I'm not getting pushed around, mind you. It's just a little noisy. So, for me, worth the trouble but I will still want to upgrade the windscreen before next winter.

I'm seriously considering winglets particularly after the reports on here, TBH I don't mind some turbulence and noise on the bike, and don't find the Tenere standard screen that bad, but some reduction of wind around the screen would be welcome :)

If I want silence when travelling I take the car

I'm 5' 9" and I ride with the stock shield in the second to the top position AND with the winglets! Works for me. I don't want to be behind a barn door!
This is the same way I rode on my 2012 too. I think too it really depends on how much air you really want. I want some as this is not a car!

I forgot to add a couple of qualifiers - screen is in the full up position mounted on the high set of holes, I'm wearing earplugs. If the screen were 4 inches taller I would still be able to see over it easily in this position. I won't ride with a screen I have to look through all the time. Here ,where it rains a lot of the time, I find it's dangerous to have something catching rain and spray that I can't clear off.

The top of the stock '14 screen comes to my chin set on the highest level. On long rides, I will lean back and it's a great relief from the noise and wind. I did find one place that will make a 26 inch screen and will probably go with that.

Wow you must be all leg TimLaw! The screen is more than an inch below my helmet chinbar in the full up position and I'm 3" shorter than you.

I'm 5'7" with a 30" inseam. With the winglets and the screen in the highest position, I'm not sure I'm going to need the madstad I ordered. I'll be happy to have the bracket, but the stock screen and winglets are so much quieter than I thought it would be.

I'm gonna grab me a set as well. I'm 5'10" and have a '13 with the MadStad bracket with a stock screen, set fairly high on the bracket and adjusted back towards me a little. Looking forward to the winglets and glad I have the MadStad to adjust the stocker screen for the best results.
