Riding home tonight, interstate speed with some buffeting wind, I noticed a whole lot of shaking going on up front. When I got home, I found I could lift the weight of the headlight, dashboard, and windshield assembly and raise it about an inch. Took it apart and it seems rubber grommets on the left side, and a bolt with a steel spacer on the right are supposed to allow some flexibility, but I don't think as much as I have. This video may or may not play or maybe download... //cloud.tapatalk.com/s/60dbc9ed22b98/20210629_184834.mp4
I did not see anything broken and all the bolts were tight, the movement was allowed by loose grommets and spacers. I simply added a washer that fit over the spacers to allow a tighter compression. Left side

Right side

It appears to have stabilized everything significantly. What kind of play do you find on your Super Tenere, lifting on the headlight assembly? I wonder if I need new grommets. They did not look particularly worn. There is another left side grommet down by the bottom of the radiator that I did not mess with. It does appear the panels also add to the overall rigidity.

I always hate removing the panels, as I usually have one or two screws that won't start in the threaded clips. Much better this time, I must be learning.

Check that the long bolt and nut is tight where the stay attaches to the steering head. The nut was loose on mine, the windshield wobbled around quite a bit. Once tightened up all secure again.

Not so lucky after all, went out and checked it again. Did find a break in "Stay 1". Kind of hard to see. I may try a temporary epoxy fix while ordering a new one. View is looking up from the bottom.

Kind of looks like a brittle plastic type of fracture.

Also, can someone post up a picture showing their mounting of the Grommets Item #57?

Mine has the push lock holders going outward into the fairings at that location. They don't actually connect to item 53. The price on the parts list would indicate something more substantial.

I have ridden it hard enough to fatigue fracture a Ram X mount. Not totally shocked, but a little disappointed it isn't more robust.

I believe that is 1 of the 2 fasteners that hold on the left fairing, along with the 6 (I think) screws from the outside...

Right, but does yours have something that attaches to Item #53, on both sides? Items #57 in the above diagram.

No, it doesn't. Just the 2 screws , washers and capnuts. I just had 53 off a couple days ago rerouting the wires for my aux lites.
