I would like to replace my OEM '13 S10 windscreen.
My S10 has a MadStad bracket and the only two windscreens that I am interested in buying are
either the Puig Touring Windscreen or the Givi D444ST Windscreen.
I am not looking to add an air spoiler. I am 6'2" and wear a SHOEI X2 Hornet.
Anyone have any experience with the Puig or Givi?

Finally decided that I would like to get the Puig windscreen for my S10, the only question I have now is clear or light smoke?
I have never seen this particular Puig windscreen in person either in clear or light smoke and I am not sure if the light smoke
presents any compromise in the ability to see through it especially at night.
I have never previously owned a bike with a sort of upright windscreen like the S10's (my S10 does have a MadStad bracket).
My main need for a larger surface area wind screen right now is for riding/touring on the road but there will be mellow riding on hard pack dirt roads and dirt/gravel trails as well.
Indecision, one of the drawbacks of having to order online sight unseen.
Any personal experiences and suggestions out there?

The Puig windshield I had was the lite smoke. I had mine set just below eye level and at night if I looked down thru it the headlight didn't seem as bright. The thing that bothered me was not seeing objects in the road as well as I thought I could have if I had the clear windshield. I basically went with the lite smoke thinking it would help reflect sunlight off the instrument cluster and I thought it looked better with some shading to it. If I was going to buy it again I would still go with the lite smoke. I sold the windshield to AntrimMan. You could pm him and possibly get some additional info on it.

The windshield on my 2018 Tenere is a VStream the medium size and I like it except for one thing, it’s tinted and they don’t make it in clear, it looks and works nice but I wish it was clear, I simply don’t like tinted.

What is it about tint that you dislike, vision function?

At times I can be a might thrifty.
A very useful feature of this forum is the ability to acquire lightly used items at greatly reduced prices.
I have the Puig 5568H, purchased used from Arkyrider as he stated. I am thankful, it remains a great value.
It has been on the big white pig since around November last year and all season so far this year and I am quite pleased. It is mounted on an early model of Madstad, incidentally also purchased used from a forum member, with height set so I can see over while seated. I would estimate a clear line of sight ahead at 100 feet more or less. I stand when the surface requires a closer field of view.
The Puig has a light smoke tint, I don't find the tint objectionable and while riding it seems to disappear and is not distinctly noticeable.
I ride with a dark smoke visor in daylight, that undoubtedly influences any windscreen smoke tint affect. I avoid riding in the dark at all. If your eyes don't rapidly adjust to changes in light you may find the tint intolerable at night.
Running vertically there are two fold lines in the windscreen, one each side of center and outboard of the attachment hardware, where Puig intentionally incorporated stiffener bends to minimize deflection at speed. The bends cause a very localized visual aberration. That is just the nature of angular versus curvature changes and is not a defect. Some may find these objectionable. I am ok with them.
Initially with the stock windscreen I was pleased to stay fairly dry in the rain.
Looking for less turbulence I added Yamaha winglets, also purchased used from a forum member. An improvement.
Then switched to the tall Yamaha touring windscreen, again purchased used from a forum member. Did I mention I can be thrifty? More improvement.
Then added the Madstad bracket. This makes an interesting change. I have found I now get somewhat wet in the rain. The rain drops fall out of the airflow onto my visor. I don't remember that before the Madstad.
Then switched to the Puig. Another improvement.
Then added 40mm mirror stalk extenders from CosmoMoto. More improvement.
Each item does make some difference to the air flow.
I am all done making any more changes. For now. It is a motorbike. It is acceptable.
Good Lord can I ramble or what?
I suggest you maybe get yourself an el cheapo light smoke visor and ride with it in all light conditions for a day or two. You can flip it up in a heartbeat if you find yourself momentarily blinded by bright headlights from oncoming traffic.
Then decide if a tinted windscreen is acceptable based on your own personal experience. No big investment if tint is not for you.
All the best.

AntrimMan,
That, kind Sir was an outstanding read that transcends anything I would have expected in a reply and literally addresses all the concerns I had especially regarding the fold lines. I also have a ‘13 “big white pig” with an early version of the MadStad as well, talk about irony and or happenstance.
Your detailed input and dispensed advice with suggestions is now duly noted and fully absorbed.
Will follow through with you on how it plays out if you are interested to know.
Sincere thanks and much appreciation.

I tried so many combinations that I can't remember then all. Tried a Puig, and a touring screen with and without a Madstat.

Looking story short, I found that I was doing it all wrong. I was trying to block the wind. Putting a screen straight up or close to straight up makes the back pressure worse.

I ended up with a Madstat mount and the stock screen tilted back towards me. This smoothed the air out a lot. The final touch was a MRA spoiler to smooth the air out even more.

Point is, try tilting whatever screen you have towards you little by little and see if it helps.

I agree, if you try and block the breeze, you start to generate secondary air currents, (remember, nature hates a vacuum), so as you correctly said, you need to control the air flow. Bigger sis not always better.
