On thursday a mate of mine and myself will be stretching our legs for a ride up to Wilpena Pound Sth Aus for a couple of days. Its only a 4.5 hr ride from my place but the scenery and experience should be awesome.

For those that arnt familiar with the region, its situated at the southern end of the Flinders Ranges and is as close to an outback andventure without having to go 500+ kms north. So stay tuned for pics and vids!!!

I know its not the real outback but like I said its as close to it, without actually bumping into Uluru as we're gonna get in a two day time frame.
Should be a good ride, my mate just joined (Camel) this site and he'll be the guy coming with me. Between 2 gopro hero cameras and the HD cameras on our phones we should be able to get some good pics and vids.

Mate, I was serious.

The Kidman Way south from Bourke (back o' Bourke etc) has signs saying gateway to the outback - 700 km east of there!!!

Yea i think im to used to the harley forum where sarcasm seems to be the norm.

I consider the true outback somewhere there isnt a resort within 500kms, but yes I guess your right, it is out in the sticks.

Just got back from our ride a couple of hours ago so ill keep this short and sweet with a few pics.

We ended up leaving at 8:30 am thursday morning with both bikes packed with just enough stuff to do us untill the following afternoon,, HA.
First smoko at the turnoff to Pt Pirie

The bikes performed perfectly along the highway as was expected, the handling was amazing and even with the extra load took the tighter turns with ease.
Entering the southern tip of Wilpena pound we were faced with an incredible view of the mountains

We made it to our campsite with a couple of hours before sunset so hit the bar at the resort for a quick drink, after i managed to get some more great shots of the mountains as the sun was setting.

More to come.....

BTW thats Camel in the last photos!

After a hearty meal of tinned stews and army rations followed by a drinks to sooth the throat we hit our swags eager to go for a ride to the sacret canyon next morning.

The turnoff is slightly north of the Wilpena pound entrance and is a dirt road that turns back on itself , 13.5 kms later to the south you'll find a creek running into a majestic canyon that was inhabited by Aboriginals thousands of years ago.

Heres some more photos of the canyon and the ride home. Next time we do this ride we will do it over a 4 or 5 day period as there are plenty of 4wd tracks around the area with even more spectacular sights to see.
Overall we were more than impressed with the way the S10 performed. We both got a little loose on the dirt road at times but considering the amount of gear we had and only running touring tires they did the job nicely. Ive posted a short vid on youtube which i will attach later but for more ride footage with the gopro camera Camel will compile them and post a vid at some stage.

Ok heres a short vid I made and Ill apologise now for both the language and shakeyness of the footage, It was taken with my HTC desire phone.

ALso take note!!, NO KANGAROOS WERE KILLED OR FED IN THIS VIDEO , Not only is it illegal to do so but a kangaroos digestive system isnt set up to digest human food products!! By the time we had met the kangaroo we were well lubricated and heading to the bar for more ,
so theres some foul language thrown in there VIEWER DISGRESSION IS ADVISED!!

Yamaha Super Tenere Wilpena pound ride.

Heres some more pics. Also just about to start on the video Tolong, but it will be short due to the camera going flat and us not having time to charge it. Also the isnt a lot that is useful, as the chest mount was to low to see over the dash, (Set it diffrent next time). Was an awesome trip though, looking forward to the next one.

Me at Sacred Canyon.
