Exactly correct! I might add that between the previous corona virus work and the outbreak of SARS-Covid-2, they were working on applying mRNA vaccines to ebola and zika viruses, which helped continue to refine the technology. . . .
My daughter was on both of those projects and it always bothered me that when I asked what my darling baby girl had been doing at work, the answer till this last year has always been something like "growing Zika/Ebola/Anthrax/etc" or something worse. She figures out what media and procedures will grow enough of these bugs for the next group to have enough to develop an anti-virus, then she and her group figure out how to scale that up so the production people can have a cook book to follow.
Super proud of my brainiac kid!

She just gave me the great news that she's going to be able to get her first shot next week. Somebody finally realized that the people developing and MAKING the vaccine ought to be moved up in line to be able to make it for the rest of us. She was previously excluded because of a pre-existing condition but there's now SO much data on how the shots affect all types of different people that worry no longer is valid.

Basically we already have the biggest efficacy trial ever conducted for safety of any vaccine.

After reading Don T outstanding post. I sure would like to know ,who and where, they find people that are willing to be the lab rats. Don’t think I’d get in that line.
Join the military and you will have no choice. In fact you will be happy to get it.

Not true unless you are in Russia or China. The US military has about 1/3 refuse.
There've been a lot of rumors that the Russians used prisoners for testing, giving volunteers a year or more off of their sentences.

It must have changed. I do remember everybody getting lined up and receiving our shots. . . . I don't remember anybody even voicing a hint of resistance. Of course there was a lot less political correctness back then.

Flu shots are mandatory in the military, COVID shot is not...not yet. But bet on that soon changing.

I have a hard time believing that Bob. There is no such thing as refuse. Part of my oath: I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed. I don't think that oath has changed.

In the 80's when I served you took every injection and vaccine they had before you went overseas. If you refused you were held down and forced to take it. There was no such thing as refuse unless you wanted to spend time in the brig under article 15 of the UCMJ. Of course this is at the commanding officers discretion as it is a non judicial punishment. Most of the time a fist or arm twisting from a Non Com was enough to persuade.

Believe me we were all glad to get vaccinations before spending months in places like the Philippines, Japan, Spain, Puerto Rico, etc.

It'd help to check before posting.
I am speaking of my personal experience having proudly served in the US Navy. No offense Bob but CNN is a little shaky when it comes to what actually happens in the military. Now of course I could be wrong if the UCMJ has been re written since I served. The last major update I know of was in 1984.

I have never in my life ever heard of a military member given an option in regards to a direct order from a superior officer. Vaccines were never "optional". From the time I was in boot camp and before/after returning from each deployment, every single Construction Battalion had to be vaccinated. Again times might have changed since I served.

The issue we have here in CA are all the anti mask/anti vaccine protesters and rioters preventing people entering the vaccination sites. Tito Ortiz MMA fighter is leading the charge. He is bringing his group of followers from city to city.

Dodger stadium vaccination site had to be closed because it was unsafe to enter. At least it wasn't hot out. Thousands of 80+ year olds had to sit in their cars and wait for law enforcement to come and unblock driveways and move the rioters out of the way.

These are not peaceful protests. The perpetrator's are not wearing masks and spitting on cars blocking entry with the threat of breaking windows and injury. Ortiz is flexing his muscles and intimidating the seniors from getting the vaccine. It's sickening.
OMG!!! so, why don't LE round up this guy and jail him?
I'm all for freedoms, but when you interfere with the freedoms of others, that's so far "over the line".
California, too many people.
Cal has more people than Canada's total population.
Odd, how the west coast attracts so many lunatics, the western coast of Canada is somewhat similar.
Maybe life is not so bad up here in the frozen north.

Tito has always been an arrogant, conceited prick. The fact that there are groups that feel that they have the right to force their opinions onto other people, with impunity, doesn't surprise me. And, they don't feel that they are being hypocrites when they force their opinions onto people, but feel that nobody has the right to do the same to them. One of the ingredients in the ever increasing anti-police sentiment. Don't like masks, and vaccines. . . . fine. . . . don't use them. But, it pisses me off when other people tell me, let alone physically force me, to their way of thinking. If my actions do not have any effect on your life. . . . why would you care. Ok. . . . off of my soap box.

Me? I'm a firm believer in walk softly, and carry a big stick. I'll be as nice as people let me. Which brings me to my other mantra: Don't start none, won't be none. :)
Well said!

I have a hard time believing any mainstream media no matter what the source. There is so much that happens on a "need to know" basis that any comments made by the media in regards to military life are almost always inaccurate info.

Times change for sure and even I could be wrong. I was sharing my personal experiences having served and speaking to my fellow comrades who recently served.

OMG!!! so, why don't LE round up this guy and jail him?

I have lived in California most all my life born and raised. My state attracts all the freeloaders and freaks from around the world. It's a criminals paradise. So many of us want to move out but are unable due to obligations or situations.

If you are from another country and want free healthcare and welfare, this is the state to be in. My cousin works for Social Services. It takes only 6 hours to get a welfare check and EBT card if you know how to lie on the forms.

Vaccines and COVID tests here are the same way. I recently got a COVID test at a "free" super site. I filled out the info honestly and put in my insurance info. Yesterday I was billed 350.00 for that test and I'm waiting to see if my insurance will pick any of it up. If you are homeless or a convicted felon, you simply put that info into the form and the test is 100% free.

Right now I'm dealing with stuff that is unimaginable. I'm so damn frustrated with Californias system. I'm holding on to a thread of hope that my honesty and integrity will win out in the end.
