I received the second shot (Pfizer) 2 days ago.

No side effects whatsoever from either shot.

Damn it feels good - not only because I don't have to worry about getting infected and are less likely to transmit the virus, but also because I now have done my part in stopping the virus :)
Hey, not so fast, far to early to predict..sincerely I hope you are correct in your assumptions

I assume the vaccine will be an every year thing for the next 5400 years, along the line of the flu vaccination? Why bother? It's here, and will be like the flu and a cold for the next few hundred decades.

In the UK most of those who are anti-vaccination are from the BAME community, more concerned about fertility than safety and social responsibility.
Not sure why this was not removed as it is inflammatory. Making unsubstantiated claims about minority communities regarding their views on fertility, safety and social responsibility.

..........abbreviation for Black, Asian, and minority ethnic: used to refer to people in the UK who are not white:

Recorded covid deaths worldwide are 2.3m over the last 12 months and annual flu deaths estimated at 650k. However if 92% of the deaths recorded as covid have severe or chronic underlying causes (as in the UK), then 184k deaths worldwide from covid is more realistic - far fewer than deaths from influenza. But we haven’t in the past shut down entire economies for winter flu. What annoys me is the opportunity cost of the disproportionate response to covid. We could have had wonderful health and social infrastructure for the £350 billion we’ve spent on lockdowns and financial support in the UK. And there is no incontrovertible proof that lockdowns have prevented any deaths or infections.
Bloody hell! Don’t you watch the news? We should have locked down properly like Korea and Australia. We should have shut our borders properly too. If you think covid is the same as flu come and walk in my shoes for a day. I’ve been off work since July when I caught it. Do you really think the economy would recover if we release lockdown? Our namby pamby version of lockdown has led to more deaths per 100000 than any country in the world!

I have happily been getting the flu vaccine since about 1987 when the company I was working for set it up. Before getting the vaccine I used to get pretty sick and be throwing up sometimes for a couple days, since I started getting the vaccine I have never had a very bad case of the flu. I am also thankful for all the other folks that are willing to get vaccinated because I definitely believe it helps keep the number of flu cases down.
I grew up on a dairy farm and learned first hand what a big difference vaccines can make.

Because what was removed were negative comments directed at another member.
If this was ADV we'd be handing out time-outs.

Fair enough with the directed bit ....Many people I know are black, Asian and minority ethnic. Why do you allow provocation regarding people I know,, but remove my defense of them. FYI everyone I know is pro-vaccine except for one white person (no disrespect, just a fact). And, more importantly, posting that non whites are "more concerned about fertility than safety and social responsibility...'' is clearly racism, baiting and wholly unsubstantiated conjecture.

I've been standing up to this type of BS for 60 years. Not happy.

You said it. You riding a Big Red Pig? (XR650R)
Nice! Yep. I did. Was tht directed directly at me? But then I noticed it was ok from one side but not another ("Because what was removed were negative comments directed at another member"}

I have kept very quiet about some comments because I was warned it is not my country etc. So I backed up and let you get on with it. Plus I am not in it for the fight even though I see some wish for it. This is the UK and people I know and love. Obviously you agree with unsubstantiated attacks.

Quite saddening really.

. . . . Before getting the vaccine I used to get pretty sick and be throwing up sometimes for a couple days, since I started getting the vaccine I have never had a very bad case of the flu. . . .
There were times that I became ill, and thought I had the flu. Then one day, I got the flu. Aches/pains like I had never felt, and a temp of 104F. Up until that time, I had gotten the flu shot sometimes, sometimes not. After that time. . . . every year. And, have never been ill since, except for the "common cold". I saw a report the other day saying that flu numbers were down this season. o_O 1) Since covid is more contagious than the flu. . . . if you're taking good precautions, and preventing covid, you're preventing the flu. 2) If a person gets the flu, and covid. . . . it's counted as covid.

I also had to look up BAME and it is a term used by the UK Govt so I let it go when it came up.

HOWEVER Phil is correct . . .
. . . in that there have been some racist comments and those need to end because we do have members of every color & religion & orientation here as members. As always, write in a way you'd be willing to say things face to face.

It'd be a no-win situation for us to spend our time going back through everybody's posts to try to make things politically correct so I'm not going to try. AvGeek and I try pretty hard to be flexible but moderator decisions being final is a basic rule here and on every other forum.

Thank you. Not an easy line to tread, but I'm sure all will give praise to both you and AvGeek in your unbiased fairness and ability to keep things in order. Appreciated.

From my side, I understand we all have differences and, when posting, if it can be substantiated I am absolutely fine with it - the first part of the post could be. But, what I did object to and find unnecessary is the conjecture and sweeping blanket generalisation of the second part, that is all.

Yes I will. Had the virus back in September. I feel very lucky now. Just got a notice from work that we are part of the second round. I work in food container manufacturing.

Don't be surprised/worried if you start getting body aches, and/or chills. Real common with the second shot about 24hrs after receiving it. Ibuprofen works well, and the symptoms are gone by the end of the next day.

I've seen a few youtube videos where doctors say not to use Ibuprofen or aspirin as it can cause a reduced effectiveness of the vaccine. Don't know if its true or not but though I would throw that out there for all to consider.
