Yes, I will take the vaccine. It is looking like anti vaxxers will have some of there other rights/privileges limited in Australia. Certainly there will be travel restrictions.

I'm just hoping that I can get get the second dose, before the politicians decide they know better than the doctors that invented the vax. . . . and limit everybody to one dose.

Just watched biden get his second dose of the vaccine. While the rest of the country is trying to get their first dose, but can't, because it's sitting in freezers waiting for local/state/federal government agencies to get off their asses.

Easy fix: let Walmart pharmacy, Walgreens, etc. roll out the vaccines. I see so many states setting up huge public covid testing events, why not just jab 'em with the vax at these things instead of simply testing?

Prior to the vaccine's approval, that was what they were saying the plan was. Reportedly, Walgreens, and CVS were in talks with the government to coordinate the dispensing. . . . so. . . . where did the wheels come off? Why don't the pharmacies have the product? They knew it was coming.

Full disclosure, I picked up a part time job at CVS when the shutdown decimated my industry...the plan is that all CVS stores will eventually offer the vaccine, but I did not see how quickly that would happen.

I think that's still the plan. I think part of the problem is the number of front line workers refusing it making it difficult to say when that tier of innoculations are done. In NY, the law is so strict they're not allowed to move to the next tier until all the front line first tier people have been vaccinated. They are actually fined if they do so and at least in one case a center's vaccine supply was taken away from them. Not sure what percentage of front line workers are expected to take it but it seems expectations are too high. I say fine, if someone on the front line refuses it, then go to the back of the line and inoculations should move the the next tier. I know in Riverside CA, they ran out of folks on the first tier that wanted the vaccine with left over, already reconstituted vaccine, so they offered it up to anyone else that wanted it instead of trashing it. Completely sensible but they got caught in controversy for doing it. It's just stupid.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services they have over 1,000 locations like CVS and Walgreens under contract to administer the vaccine as soon as it's available. The problem is that Wisconsin has only received 25% of it's allotment. I don't know of anyone who has even received the first dose yet.

I've been listening to Bloomberg news and they've been interviewing on this. Basically, the experts are saying pretty close to what you did. The Feds have been getting the stuff to the States but the patchwork of uncoordinated State and local Govts have been the problem with all sorts of issues including such bureaucracy.

Had a check-up this morning and asked the doc if he had any idea about when us in the 65+ group would be up. He rolled his eyes and said our State is so screwed up that the majority of health care workers haven't yet had a chance.

sigh

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported today that out of 600,000 doses allocated only 373,000 doses have been shipped, 163,000 have been administered. The state has a population of about 6 million. The local medical facilities are ready to administer the vaccine, but they just don't have it yet. They estimate a June time frame before it may be available to the general public under 65. Looks like I'll have to wait until June as I turn 65 in July.

Most of the time I would prefer to live in a more liberal and less socialist country than I am, but regarding distribution and administration of the vaccine I'm very pleased with how things are handled here in DK.

The national health authorities have divided the population into 12 groups. Group 1 are offered the vaccine first. When everyone from group 1 who wants the vaccine have had their first shot (time for shot 2 are book when you get the first shot, and the vaccine is in stock and reserved for you), they move on to group 2 and so on.
When it's your turn you'll receive a private message in your inbox, and be able to book a time for your shots.

The public healthcare system handle the vaccines.
Right now we are the country in the world where the largest percentage of the population have received the vaccination.

Quite frankly our roll out is stupid and makes no sense. Mind you thats to be expected with rhe idiots we have in charge. If it was war time we may as well just surrender.

A literal Eton Mess?

For those not familiar:
Eton mess is a traditional English dessert consisting of a mixture of strawberries, meringue, and whipped cream.[1] First mentioned in print in 1893, it is commonly believed to originate from Eton College and is served at the annual cricket match against the pupils of Harrow School.[2]

Eton mess was served in the 1930s in the school's "sock shop" (tuck shop), and was originally made with either strawberries or bananas mixed with ice-cream or cream.[3][4] Meringue was a later addition.[5][6] An Eton mess can be made with many other types of summer fruit,[7] but strawberries are regarded as more traditional.

Lancing mess (which uses bananas) is a similar dessert which is served throughout the year at Lancing College in West Sussex, England.

The word mess may refer to the appearance of the dish,[5] or may be used in the sense of "a quantity of food", particularly "a prepared dish of soft food" or "a mixture of ingredients cooked or eaten together".[8]

In recent times, "Eton mess" has often been used by commentators in the media to describe political infighting within the UK Conservative Party over issues such as Brexit. Eton mess is used because a number of Conservative politicians were educated at Eton College.[9][10][11]
