At one point in time I'd have totally agreed, but these days so many Cal State schools have gone to offering online courses that I think we've entered into a new era. Now, papermill colleges are a different story, but when state universities across the country have gone to offering online classes as a norm, I have to assume things aren't what they used to be.
I have two in college and both of them are mostly taking online classes, not by choice but because their classes aren't offered in person... and not because of covid either. The schools are realizing that they can fit more kids in an online lecture than they can in a classroom. So unless you need lab hours, you will most likely be online these days. To their credit, the amount of peer and professor interaction is quite high thanks to technology. Strange new world.

I think this is an over simplification of the issue. There are a lot of moving parts to why people aren't getting vaccinated. They range from plain ignorance to hyper cautiousness, and everything in between.

When I got my first Pfizer dose I had a minor reaction. My second dose put me down for 2 days of misery. I had Covid in the early days of the pandemic and the symptoms and duration were the same as with the second dose... stuff happens. I don't regret getting the vaccine but several friends don't see the point based on my experience. If you're going to get sick with the same severity and duration, why bother?.. or so the thinking goes. Faulty logic as it is, that's one of many reasons why people aren't getting it. No amount of me saying that I am a one in a million case is going to change anything. Neither my wife nor daughter had anything worse than a headache. Doesn't matter. My experience is enough to make some people hyper cautious.

Then there are the folks like my son who want to get the vaccine but can't afford to get it because his company's policy is that he can't work for 10 days after each dose if there are any symptoms, which means there is a possibility of not being able to work for a month. Yes, he can go out on benefits (and I'm pretty sure that his company's policy could be challenged in court) but the amount he would get paid is half of his current income. This is more common than you would imagine in the service industry.

Then, of course, there are just paranoid conspiracy theorists. Not much you can do about them.

As of today all corona restrictions have been lifted here in Denmark.

As more than 80% of the population is now vaccinated and everyone who wants the shot have had the opportunity to get it, corona is no longer considered a "thread to society".

Other countries where fewer have accepted the vaccine seems to still be struggling...

As more than 80% of the population is now vaccinated and everyone who wants the shot have had the opportunity to get it, corona is no longer considered a "thread to society".

Other countries where fewer have accepted the vaccine seems to still be struggling...

Hopefully the Danish can now enjoy a normal life again.

They put out yesterday that 25% of the country was unvaccinated; 75% vaccinated. Weren't we supposed to reach "heard immunity" at 70%? So, shouldn't we be there? I never could grasp the concept of heard immunity anyway. You either get the virus, or you don't. And, getting the vaccine goes a long way towards not getting it.

My wife and I had a visit a little over two weeks ago from some friends. Went out to dinner and then rode in my pickup to show them a summer camp where I volunteer.
The next day the guy comes down with Covid. His wife gets it three days later. My wife and I know for a fact that we were exposed. We were both Vaccinated . We never showed any symptoms and it's now been almost three weeks. They both got pretty sick with head aches and cold like symptoms .
I respect anyone that does not want the vaccine but keep in mind that you are making your own luck.

The numbers I have seen show only a little over 50% fully vaccinated nationally. Wisconsin is at 51% and the area I live in isn't even at 50% yet. The vaccine is available everywhere and the state is paying you to get it. If 75% were vaccinated this f*cking nightmare would probably be over. Hopefully Denmark will show the world how to beat this virus...we sure haven't.
