OPINION: if a person doesn't want to catch covid. . . . get the vaccine. It's proven that it works.

I don't know how many of your citizens were complying with the mask order/mandate, but, around here, more didn't wear them, than did. OPINION: if a person doesn't want to catch covid. . . . get the vaccine. It's proven that it works. Maybe that's what your people in charge are trying to force. Remove the precautions, to "inspire" vaccination. Because, over here, if a person wants the vaccine. . . . the person gets the vaccine, no waiting.
A lot were wearing and still will hopefully and the vaccine uptake was really good, but they haven’t got the second dose into a lot. I know in other countries it may be different but here they have been doing it downward in order of age so, young people are like 0% of any dose, but that’s because they haven’t been offered it, not because they choose not to take it. As a parent of a young person who hasn’t even been offered a vaccine…

Over here Pfizer is authorized for everybody over 12. I think Moderna has applied for this permission, but not yet received it. Our issue is that people just don't want the vaccine. o_O

Hi, yeah I’ve been reading that and seeing it in interviews, it must be very frustrating.

UK gov today announced (with delta variant surging and against many top doctors and scientists advice to wait and keep vaccinating, after getting so very far with the vaccine rollout, while still falling short on vaccinating the young and many second doses for older) that, they will remove legal restrictions on 19th July and open everything up including indoor venues and removal of a legal requirement to wear a mask on transport and indoors.

That mask one irks me, masks are about other people, soon supermarket workers, bus drivers etc will now have a swarm of possibly infected people pouring in with no regard to how they might feel about it and, some people who are scared will feel like they can’t go shopping now. Disrespectful that given wearing a mask is a small thing you can do for other people and it’s not forever.

The estimate is that it will go from 30k/day cases 100k/day soon (some say 150-200k it could be). Although they aren’t saying it it does look like an fairly expensive attempt to get to herd immunity.

There’s going to be a lot of sick people arriving at hospital soon, even a small % of a big number is still big and some won’t make it and some will be sick for a long time.

Strap in its going to get bumpy

I'm not sure of the status of things in the UK but as Sierra stated, here in the States we have reached critical mass. There is plenty of easily available vaccine for anybody that wants it, people are just flat out refusing to take it. Hell, state and local authorities are offering bribes to get people to take it: free beer if you get vaxed, entry into a drawing for large cash prizes, free local college tuition, etc. I will be damned if I'm going to walk around in a mask protecting the idiots that are refusing to protect themselves by getting an easily accessible (and free!) shot.

So....call me a monster, I'm good with that. :D

Vaccinated people don't need to wear masks. So, the same people that didn't get vaccinated, and don't wear masks, are the ones that are causing the current surge. I just saw that Australia is in the middle of another lockdown.

Hi,

It’s very frustrating and very worrying times for loads of people. So many views and mixed feelings and confusion everywhere. It’s a whole horrible emotional rollercoaster. When you mix in old people and lack of vaccine and children it’s very stressful.

I apologise if I came across at all political, I’m just not like that, it certainly wasn’t meant that way, was just personal opinion mixed with some personal desperation, anxiety’s and a little sadness too.

Hope we’re all good.

"It will be ok..."

Yep, I don't have any recollection of events before I was born and I am convinced I will have no recollection of events after I swan off...

One would not think that a pandemic, or the vaccine for it, would be political. One would think that our survival instinct would be stronger than our political affiliation(s). But, in the US, the media is reporting that one political party is more likely to not take the vaccine, over the other. (not mentioning which is which)

In my opinion, that makes us (US) look like complete idiots. We have the cure, but won't use it. Much of the world would love to get the cure, but can't. o_O

Australia has fully vaccinated only 8% of its population and a substantial proportion don’t want it, believing that their rigorous closed border policy will protect them (essentially shutting the world out). Giving away all of the UK produced AZ vaccines to Indonesia because of the stupid blood clots hiatus didn’t help!

I loved the UK reaction, reaction, reaction, reaction, overreaction, underreaction, reaction...quite the circus!

PH is almost as hilarious if you prefer laughing to crying...

My sister lives in Queensland and they closed their borders and only had 1 case if I remember correctly. I will now go away and check lol...if I can be arsed...

Edit: Got it completely wrong, but it was info from my sister. She doesn't give a sh*t about anything but being upbeat, so doesn't surprise me... :D

Darwin will sort out the antivaxers eventually. This pandemic will kill off many of them but those that are left will use the same arguments when the next pandemic come along. And the next one and the next one. So slowly but surely they will disappear into oblivion. Sad really, bit like Neanderthal man…
