Why doesn't this work for S10s?

Universal grip heaters...doesn't fit universally. Laughable.
Not sure why it wouldn't fit. The picture shows the latest switchgear but presumably from another Yamaha model. Maybe something to do with the factory connectors for heated grips that are built into the bike, but that is a guess. All they want is 12v power with sufficient current...

I see no reason it won't work. If you get the grip heater connection cable it shows in the upper corner, it should plug directly into the accessory plug found under the right side plastic fairing. Just in front of your battery near the toolkit.

Maybe. Or maybe not. The connection cable appears to show a 4 pin plug, and the Gen I bikes do have a 4 pin plug where you mention for the factory heated grips. Be prepared for it to not fit. You would think that they would at least specify that it only fits the 2012-2013 Super Tenere, if it did.

For reference, the 4 pin connector on Gen I bikes has the following wire colors and this is what each is:

Blue w/black trace - trigger wire off key switch

Black w/green trace - 12v power off headlight relay

Black - Ground

Light Green w/white trace - ECU

Those may or may not play well with that harness plug. You may have to sit there with a multi-meter and sort out what the heated grips need. Typically, you'll need power, ground and a 12v trigger to avoid the grips being left on when the bike is off, and those are present on the bike side. No idea what the ECU connection is doing. Hopefully the kit or harness comes with a good wiring diagram, not just a series of pictures showing you connecting/installing things.

The thing about universal heated grips is ..there are different lengths & diameters. Some bikes have longer grips...some shorter. Some are 7/8" some 1" dia.
My Ten uses longer ones...like a Gold Wing
My Strom uses the shorter ones like most DS bikes. Both are 7/8" dia
The bars get fatter where they are clamped
(Fatbars) 1 1/8"
I got both sets from either Bikemaster (Tucker Rocky) or Show Chrome/ Big Bike Parts
Made by the same mfg (Koso) for various sellers...
I didnt use any of the factory Yam wiring. Separate 5 step switch with the grips. Wired to ign. circuit for battery discharge protection.

I would be wary about buying grip heaters that are specifically cited as not fitting my bike. the grip length may be different or the electrical resistance of the heated grips may differ from what the OEM wiring provides. There are other good options available.

Yeah after looking around I found a video on youtube that showed that set of heaters fit to another Yamaha. Hard to see in the pic but the video looked like that short harness had a 2 wire connection. Either way you may just need to attach a new end to make it work. Minor issue.

As Relic mentions, they're shorter, that's prolly the "won't fit" part. Ours are just over five inches, not 4.72". That's where the Oxford Adventure comes in. Neat looking grip though.

I actually preferred a shorter heated grip for my Gen I bike so I could fit a throttle lock in the gap. I was using a VistaCruise for that bike, though started installing a true CC as well. Second owner finished that up, but I still sometimes miss the quick and handy throttle lock. The Gen II factory CC is pretty quick and easy to set.
