Im not sure as I dont have anyone measuring them yet and what size are the bags ?
If you have a extra inch on the racks but the bags are smaller hen it changes .
Also I have read to many issues with the stock bags about locks mostly.
I also dont think they are that big inside.

I wanted racks as the bags can be ordered in 7 , 9 , 10 or bigger . so that would make a difference. The racks are one size per company so if you rack is 21" the nyou can know before you order the bags , two ten inch bags on a 21 inch rack are going to be 41"

With all this talk of splay, I just measured the Givis to see if they have it. They do. Double checked my original measurement, at the back, still getting 18 3/8". But at the front, they are around 19 1/2". Visually I don't notice it. The racks, and the Givi cases, sit parallel to the frame, and since I have the E360s which have a curved jellybean shape the splay isn't noticeable - there aren't any long lines to fail at parallel.
I have the PLR367 racks with the Trekker cases. If any splay is present on mine, it is unnoticeable as well, too. The left side rack is very close to the muffler heat shield - I'm talking like within an 1/8" from making contact. Either way, how the quick attach/detach mechanism works with the Givi, it is a non-issue.

Good luck...

Im most likely going wit the Givi PLR 3637 as they seem to be the best bang for the buck and only one person said they knew a friend that had a sister that knew a kid that had one fail . So that sounds like pretty good odds to me and They are also one of if not thee closest . I went with the same size panniers as it a personal thing
Keep number coming in as we need a list so people can decide with more info . Closest is not always best as there are stronger ones out there and some that require less mounts as the threaded holes are built in ECT
So more more

I don't see why you should have to. I've always thought that it made sense to stick with the same boxes as the rack, if only because the mounting pucks or whatever are being used fit nicely, and most panniers come with the pucks pre-mounted for the rack. If you picked up a set of panniers, drilled them yourself, and used the Givi mounting set up, it should work fine.

I bought PAK-MEISTER Expedition Series Panniers 36L for a couple of reasons
I like the box look and from what I have read and what the dealers have said when I called they take more of a beating if it happens.
I wanted the Givi's as they mount the closest to the bike
PAK-MEISTER when I contacted then have a couple of different models for sale . The fancy kind which are $300 more and the plainer kind which I like the looks of better, rather than push the higher sale I asked him which of the sets are sturdier and he pointed me to the plainer box style " The PAK-MEISTER Adventure Series Panniers 29L look better but the 36L are a lot stronger .
The ones I got didnt have built in locks as they can take a padlock but then I will be using then only part time at present plans
I also want the same look on both sides so that limits some of the racks because they are closer on the right than the left. Only heard one bad thing about the Givis and that was more of a my brothers friends sister ex husband heard type of story.
PAK-MEISTER Adventure Series Panniers 29L doesbt sell racks. I even found somewhere a rack kit that you have to weld up yourself

LOL! The same reason motivated me to measure mine. No splay happening with the Tosco cases. The sides are perfectly parallel, so I measured between the outer edges. Front: 38.5" ; Rear: 38.5" Kind of on the 'fat' side for mounted width, but the 52 + 54 liter capacity came in really handy during my last trip. I had one those 'do I carry carry my jacket and helmet into the restaurant?' moments and suddenly realized I had a couple of bottomless pits mounted to my bike :D

imrubicon,

You might want to check with anyone that has Happy-Trail panniers. They bear a striking resemblance, and have a symmetrical rack. I've used their panniers in the past on a KLR and 800 GS, and found the rack to be exceptionally solid. Happy-Trail sells the mounting pucks, etc. as well as the rack without the panniers. http://www.happy-trail.com/Happy%20YAM%20XT1200Z-Super-Tenere/SU-Side-Rack.aspx

Hope this helps.

I did look at the happy trails and they look well built and I havnt found anything bad about them and still in the running . But the quick release is not there. I hope to put them on when goinjg on a trip but I really will most likely just end up leaving the panniers on all the time anyway.
Hey its a nice dream though als othe thinner the bike the easier to park in the garage ::017::

Great thread! One other option to consider would be the Holan Nomada Pro system for the Super Tenere. Measurements are as follows:

* Pannier rack alone - Approx 18.5"
* With 2 x 31L Nomada Pro panniers - Approx 32"
* With 2 x 38L Nomada Pro panniers - Approx 35"
* With 2 x 45L Nomada Pro panniers - Approx 38"

There are some pictures in the Vendor thread at http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=6349.msg110246#msg110246 and here is a quick video review of the Holan mounting system in action courtesy of Matt Butcher (one of the YST forum members). Just for reference, Matt has the 45L panniers mounted on his S10.

Any questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Thats pretty narrow also .
I added the information to the list.
I decided to go with the rack sizes as most list the measurements of the can also but no one seems to list just the racks as with the Givi
I bought aftermarket panniers from a small shop as I wasnt looking for pretty but functional (also hundreds in savings) and none of the Packages really had listed what the rack size was and the size with panniers was not what some seemed to be getting after mounting.
I hope this list keeps growing as more options for use is better for all!
