If Eric, and Chris are gone due to, or for, the same reason. . . . why have Chris's stats been completely removed. . . . while Eric's remain?

I don’t recall anyone saying EricV was banned. Maybe he made amends?!? He was a major contributor in my purchase of a Super Tenere. He may be opinionated, and may ride in a different way than I but he has hundreds of thousands of miles to back up his opinions. Some may see it as condescending, I don’t. We all use our bikes how we see fit. Most of us any ways.

Eric and his wife rode coast to coast in the Scooter Cannonball race. They have been on the road for the last three weeks and have been having a lot of trouble getting home from California. They finally rented a U-Haul truck today in Utah and are loading up and heading home. Eric has had fuel pump problems for a few days and today his wife's scooter broke a belt.

That is sometimes where folk start to bang heads! Most of us on this forum are over 50, many well over that, with lots of years and miles under our belts. I like many, have been riding for over 40 years and probably in excess of 500k miles of different types of bikes and riding. With this comes lots of knowledge and experience, some of which is opinion and some fact. Sharing and listening to different opinions is healthy and IMO interesting, imposing and asserting your opinion aggressively is unnecessary and creates friction. Perhaps don’t assume your audience knows little or nothing about what you’re sharing.

I agree, we all use our bikes as we see fit……….it’s frustrating and a tad annoying when told it’s the wrong way.

BTW, I have no issue with either BC or EV, we’ve had mild disagreements on here but I’m sure they’re as thick skinned as I am and quickly moved on.

In the event EricV and Chris should ever see this I’d like to thank them both for the positive impact they’ve had on my “Tenere experience”. Whether just reading the knowledge they left in their wakes or through exchanging thoughts on a matter, both gave generously of their experienced wisdom.

In particular, I’d like to comment on EricV. A couple years ago I was sidelined from riding by injuries and their repair. Couldn’t type, let alone ride. Real bummer. This was all the more frustrating for a guy that’s ridden dirt and DS for over 50 years.

Having recently returned to riding and having purchased a new S10 I revisited the forum to catch up on things and learn new tidbits, and was greeted by a PM from Eric. In it he shared sage wisdom, experiences and encouragement that hit me as just about off the scale. This man who I’ll likely never have the great fortune of meeting imparted a kinship and compassion that one would think came from the closest of friends. The fact that he wrote a lengthy letter of such positive magnitude to a stranger has left a great impression on me and I only regret that I hadn’t read it in the beginning of convalescence.

If I could choose one mod that’s had the largest impact since becoming a member of this forum in 2012 it would be the mental affirmation Eric’s letter provided.

Concerning their unfortunate departures I’d like to offer kind words for those who made the difficult decision.
I didn’t know that Eric V left the group??

I love Yanks! They can talk really personal and with feeling about each other at length without fear but mention gun laws and they clam up and bring down the shutters straight away! They dress like us, talk a bit like us but they’re not at all like us!!

You're right. Over the years, it's became a "if you're not with me. . . . you're against me." kind of thing. We've taken the Land of the Free, way to literal. Everyone thinks that they have the right to do what ever they want. . . . whenever they want . . . . where ever they want. . . . to whoever they want. They don't seem to remember, or care, that their rights do not overrule other's rights. They've definitely forgotten the Golden Rule.

So we end up not being able to discuss anything without disrespecting/belittling each other. Been guilty of it myself.

Over the years I developed the skill(?) to be able to see a situation from both points of view. It didn't make a person right, but sometimes it made it easier explaining where they went wrong.

The sad part. . . . I don't see where/how it's going to improve.

I am also a member of the DRRIDERS forum and I know some others here are also on that forum. There are many older riders there along with many international members. In the 5 or so years that I have been a member, I have not seen any major arguments that got someone kicked out. Procycle and Motolab used to argue about carburetors, but that seems to have subsided. On the DRRIDERS forum, volatile topics like politics, guns, religion, immigration, how to enter Canada illegally etc.. are just not brought up. There are plenty of other topics to discuss and share info on concerning motorcycles. Maybe we should follow suit.

When I see something on TV, or hear something on the radio that I don't like, or agree with . . . . I change the channel. This forum should be the same. If you disagree with a post/thread, don't participate. No reason that other can't discuss whatever they want.

We've become too sensitive. It seems like some stay awake at night trying to come up with things that they can be offended by. Looking for their 15 minutes of fame. My true friends and I often disagree on things. They tell me I'm crazy, as do so to them. Nobody gets butt hurt.

An example of different styles of communication:
I went to an advanced sniper school in OK some years back. My partner, and I had been working together for years. Well, after the week was up, the instructors brought up communication between the spotter, and shooter. Apparently, my partner and I had made them nervous. During the stages, we would say this/that in our normal manner.

The instructors turned to us, and described our comms as unique. They said it must work, (we finished #1 & #2) but didn't recommend it for the rest of the class. Come to find out, they had been taking bets on which one of us was going to kill the other. They were sure that we hated each other, and we were to big to get in between if we started fighting. The thing that I found odd was that the lead instructor was a Gulf War I vet, and the other was a Vietnam Sniper with 68 confirmed. I would have thought that they would have been used to it.

At no time did my partner or I realize that they thought we were serious.

My point is, before you get mad at somebody for what you think they're saying . . . . confirm the content/context. . . . before decide to hate them. :)
