Are we in H.S. or are we adults?
I ask myself that daily. And, not necessarily in reference to here either. My wife has a fakebook account. I sometimes get on there to read the posts. It's like a train wreck. . . . you want to stop looking. . . . but can't.

This is just like putting black bars on photos. Instantly turns them into "naughty" ones. :D

In the event EricV and Chris should ever see this I’d like to thank them both for the positive impact they’ve had on my “Tenere experience”. Whether just reading the knowledge they left in their wakes or through exchanging thoughts on a matter, both gave generously of their experienced wisdom.

In particular, I’d like to comment on EricV. A couple years ago I was sidelined from riding by injuries and their repair. Couldn’t type, let alone ride. Real bummer. This was all the more frustrating for a guy that’s ridden dirt and DS for over 50 years.

Having recently returned to riding and having purchased a new S10 I revisited the forum to catch up on things and learn new tidbits, and was greeted by a PM from Eric. In it he shared sage wisdom, experiences and encouragement that hit me as just about off the scale. This man who I’ll likely never have the great fortune of meeting imparted a kinship and compassion that one would think came from the closest of friends. The fact that he wrote a lengthy letter of such positive magnitude to a stranger has left a great impression on me and I only regret that I hadn’t read it in the beginning of convalescence.

If I could choose one mod that’s had the largest impact since becoming a member of this forum in 2012 it would be the mental affirmation Eric’s letter provided.

Concerning their unfortunate departures I’d like to offer kind words for those who made the difficult decision.

So very well said. Despite me not agreeing with both of them on certain things, they contributed hugely. It must have been a very tough decision.

Unfortunately Eric and Chris seemed to have a war going on between the two of them and it was pretty apparent at least to me that they were both warned several times to knock it off but they couldn’t-wouldn’t so they got banned, I miss them both but life goes on.

It was fueled by a certain number of "respected" members fanning the flames. The last post of responses to Chris were really fanning the flames and had me biting my tongue for the benefit of the forum - really biting, as before I had been "informed" that I was only here to stir things up. That certain person needs to take a close look at themselves as well if that is the case.

Respect to the forum, but some are "better" at deceitful, snipey comments, that just duck under the radar than someone like Chris who is not so able to "play the nasty game". Veiled comments should be seen as just as undermining to this group as flagrant ones. I place a few comments of my own in this regard including this one.

Let us all be honest!!

Ahhh come on, Phil, just come out and say you don’t like me. You follow me around and pounce on any post I make. Let us all be honest.
Apart from stopping myself from REALLY REALLY responding to your insulting and demeaning comments to Chris, I am very comfortable is saying so. I gave you so many chances to bury the hatchet. But anyone who disagrees with you and digs their heels in - YES, I again yield that YOU may be absolutely infallible - will be subject to a 100% fanning of flames at any given opportunity.

I enjoy some of your posts and I have no objection to you as a person. However, you might want to perhaps embrace/understand others values that are not your own.

You do not have to of course... I just have my Mum's advice rattling round my noggin.
