I've ridden up that Box Canyon before (on a Quad)
That is a neat place.
I've also been to Country Thunder.............Really fun experience.

Keep posting your ride pictures!
Always love to see where people are enjoying the scenery.

Finally was able to go for a ride today. It's been around 0* for a week.
I counted around 60 Trumpeter Swans on the river.

Spotted an old house but the snow is way to deep to ride up close.

People who see you and don't know you are going "Look at that fool!". Swans on the Des Moines River?

If you get tired of my posts, just tell me to back off. I figure given the weather across the country, pictures with sun, warmth, and a little sand may be appreciated.
Scouting entry to the Box Canyon Area east of 79, south of 60, and North of the Gila River. Tried from the west first. Pretty sure I could have made this hill, but there were several convoys coming against me, and if I met someone coming down it would not have ended well. Needed a spotter.

Headed down to East Price Road, following the Gila River. Over to North Box Canyon Road. Got my sand practice in today. Will go back and go further in the near future with more time.

Met a side by side limping out with 3 wheels, dragging the left rear axle. I caught up with him on the way out, raising clouds of dust. Hard to read the sand in all that dust. Finally got around when he hit some rocks.

There is a big Country Western festival here in non-covid times.

Hmmmm....how is the traction??
Conditions up here (southern Ontario Canada) look somewhat similar to those in your pic. We have lotsa salt on our roads as well...
A slight twist of the throttle would result in a low side??
Oh, our swans are put away for the winter near to our small lake...

Our paved roads are actually great. Now getting to the paved road from home is a sheet of ice so that is easy on the throttle , the gravel roads are all ice.

The snow just vanished! Time for a quick trip to Hjo by lake Vättern.
The town is known for nice old wooden houses with odd rooms overlooking the lake.
Most houses burned down in the mid 1800 but some magnificent ones remain.

About 10 individually unique houses still overlook the lake.

Found another "new to me" road. A-Cross Road, Rt 288 back to Rt 188, East of Roosevelt Lake. Lots of remote camping.

Comes out by the Eastern end of the trail over 4 Peaks, so I took that commute home, no pictures, going for time. I did stop for a water break and talked to a couple guys riding a BMW and Triumph 800 going the other way.

If anyone lives anywhere near the Coachella Valley, CA you must ride around the Salton Sea. So much to see. This time I didn't stop at the Salton Sea State Park, but it is a worthwhile stop, especially if you want to feel like you're camping at the beach. The artist colony of Bombay Beach is always entertaining. And of course Salvation Mtn. & Slab City are always interesting. I finally took my new-to-me 2017 ST off the pavement for the first time and explored deeper into Slab City than I ever did on my Stratoliner Dlx. Lunch was on the patio at Brownie's Diner in Brawley, always a favorite stop. Then back home to Indio along the sith shore of the the sea. 20210225_101516.jpgEFFECTS.jpg20210225_105256.jpg

Right on my man!! Thank you for the memory. I did that loop on my Super Tenere back in the winter of 2019 and had a blast. Slab City is a trippy place. On the other side those Geothermal Generation plants are something to see. On the way home to Fullerton I popped into Julian and got an apple pie.

Just when I think I want to move out of CA I realize we have some of the best riding in the world. There are not many places on earth besides Southern CA where you can go beach surfing in the sun and snow ski in the mountains on the same day.

Got off a little early today and took a route home I’ve never used before. Used the Scenic app to route it, really love the app so far. Found 2 gravel roads pretty close to home that I didn’t even know existed.

Exactly! My next long weekend trip will be up to Death Valley. Can't wait.
