Tucked away for the night in the hotel owners garage.
Sadly I won't be able to make the tour I had planned, as the main Alp passes are already getting heavy snow, and I am only in summer kit. So a short trip to the hills east of Genoa, then head back over the next week to Brexit, er.. sorry U.K.

Well, today I was supposed to be riding across Holland and Germany but sometimes, life gets in the way, so my good lady, Mrs. Longdog, suggested I do the U.K. compass points, north, south, east and west. Tomorrow I set off to Lands End in Cornwall, although I believe the southernmost point is the Lizard followed by Lowestoft on the east coast. It looks like a wet ride tomorrow but hey-ho, it’s better than not riding at all!

Bad luck, I saw the weather...was surprised. I'm heading for Romania so hope it doesn't dump there.

Did the Colditz tour the other day and have a new and great respect for the level in ingenuity and determination the POW's had. Saw a reconstructed glider too, apparently we recently made a glider and launched it off the roof as intended, its on youtube. When I return I plan to view all the Colditz tv series.

A ride to the coast just east of Genoa, then on to the SS1. This road has so many bends that a short straight of 150 metres and you get another sign saying bends for X number of kilometres.

Carrara marble. If you have a desire to sculpt, it looks like they do starter kits.
My stop for the next two days.

I have more pics, but the WiFi and 4G here are painfully slow.
Staying off the bike tomorrow, I only did 255k in 6 hours, as it was nearly all narrow and steep hill roads that for the most part are in a poor state of repair.

A buddy just rented a place in Del Norte CO, so we based out of there for 3 days of riding. Day one, once we got into town we headed up Wolf Creek Pass to check out some trails just on the west side. Day 2 we Went over Blow Out pass, Stunner Pass, La Manga Pass (NM) and back over Wolf Creek Pass again. Day 3 we went up thru Creede, over Spring Creek Pass & Slumgullion pass to Lake City. We went over Engineer & Cinnamon passes., back thru Creede and did the mine tour loop. Day 4 back home to Denver

I participated in a local phototag on advrider, and along the way I stopped by some old roads I had the WR250R on before. I made it pretty far down a steep, large rock, logging road, but I turned around after giving the traction control and abs a heck of a workout. The battlewings and the weight of the ST made it very much not fun. The pictures below are after I came back up from the downhill large rock section. This is the easy part of the road. The large 2"-5" rocks used on the steep section were not good for any type of bike. It's a lot easier to pick up a 300lb bike, though.

How did the tires do on those roads? I had a fun time on some rocky roads on the battlewings. I'd like something a little better for gravel, grass, and dirt.

wjfawb0 - Both bikes have the Mitas E07's, Mine were brand new Dakars before the trip. We did about 1000 miles total on that trip. Neither one of us had any problems, even riding in the mud around Creede right after a major downpour. We did not air down the whole trip. We even wound up on a 5 mile long steep tight downhill road that was just re-graded by a dozer. Deep and soft with lots of small tennis ball sized rocks. It seemed like a lot longer than the 5 miles it was.... I ran the old style Dakars on my trip to and from Alaska a couple of years ago. Finished off the Alaska rear with about 13000 or 14000 miles & the front lasted longer. They have worked great in all types of weather and terrains. The new plus series seems to be a little noisier than the old ones. I am very satisfied with them, as they are my third set on the bike.

I rode from San Diego to Colorado Springs and back last week. The last few hundred miles home were miserable, no way to get to San Diego without going through heat. I decided to take a non-interstate route and went by Glamis (Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area). I know the air temp gauge on the bike isn't exactly accurate but it was very hot nonetheless.
