Nice, Lolo is "almost" in my back yard...makes for a nice romp every couple years!

Hope you were able to take in north Cascades while you were on this side of the country.

300ish miles
7:30a to 7:00p

Cabrito and I enjoyed a very good ride yesterday. I had ridden parts of this route and Cabrito had ridden none. We met at a Chevron in South Antioch and separated at a Chevron in Livermore. COMMUTE TRAFFIC >:D

Get this out of the way...the not so good was riding through Livermore to Calaveras Rd and through Livermore, Brentwood, Antioch, to Antioch Bridge. and it was worth it.

The very good was everything else.

Morgan Territory Road is a fun, technical, scary road. The middle section has no paint, varies in width, many blind turns, and some traffic. Fun to ride into and happy to exit to a valley view of Livermore.

Have been wanting to ride Calaveras Rd for a couple years. It was better than expected. Good surface, very little gravel, and ton of twisties. Thought Felter Rd / Sierra Rd was going to be residential. Very fun roads with a with a view of the Santa Clara valley at the top. Sierra Rd had some single lane sections.

Mt Hamilton Rd is very fun and gains elevation. Not much traffic and only had to push one wannabe racer out of the way. There are some tar snakes which makes cornering interesting. Almost got bit on the last corner ???

The Lick Observatory is a beautiful location and a good place to get out of the heat. Tours are available and the views are spectacular.

San Antonio Valley Road is usually very fun, up or down, but... they are resurfacing with gravel :( It took us about 10 miles to get to a clean surface and high speeds. ::26::

Stopped at The Junction for lunch. Very good food and drink. Customer service is excellent and friendly. Had a brisket sandwich, lemonade, and water. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and stop at The Junction https://goo.gl/maps/RJ3hy

Mines Road is fun and we had very little traffic. I decided to ride it at the speed limit, 45 mph, and use less brake. I like this section.

The remaining roads are good but have way too commuting much traffic.

Cabrito bailed out at Livermore and I-580 and avoided a ton of commute traffic and construction. My river ride home included a relaxing ice cream stop in Walnut Grove.

Weather was hot and beautiful and the riding was fantastic. Hope to ride with Cabrito again soon.

This Saturday... will be riding these Sierra highways... CA-49, CA-108, US-395, CA-4 and connections highways.

alright, not today but last month:

that would be the second time in the last three years that I've been out there only to find too much water on the salt to do a run, damn it. Still, fun place to visit and well worth the half hour diversion off 80. If there is any grease under your fingernails at all you can feel the history of speed about the place, 'sacred ground.
