Yesterday.... Arizona way-back roads, maybe the last before heading back. 1st pic is an old mine across the creek. Third pic is the better trail. 5th shot, you can see the trail into the distance. Got within 1.25 mi of my goal, and ran into a gate for private property - no trespassing. Pushed my limits on a couple loose rocky climbs getting back out. Check ou my "What I Did to My Tenere Today" to see my souvenir.

Coulda sworn I saw he had posted 3 pics. One was of Alley Springs near Eminence, MO
Echo Bluff State Park nearby has a real nice and relatively new campground and lodge.

Forgot the camera cord and am still on the road tonight. Rode about 50 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway out of Asheville, NC this morning. Barely open due to snow and ice closure from last night. Managed to do the stretch with the highest point on the Parkway, 6040' and stopped there for some pics of the snow, etc. Peaceful, if slow. Little traffic today, which was nice. Dropped down and kept to the back roads and byways on the way to a hotel in Gadsden, AL for the night. Home tomorrow. Will share some pics then.

Pics, so it really happened. ;)

1500 miles the weekend before Easter: Down through PA and WV from NY to visit family in eastern KY, west across KY to Bourbon country to look at some property, back home to NY via OH and PA. Many hours in 40 degree temps and pouring rain but great to finally get out on the road again.

A bit chilly leaving NY (Ellicotville for some coffee to warm my fingers and toes)

I got back on 16 April from a 16-day 3889-mile door to door ride with my mate Den (Yamaha XJR 1300) to France, southern Spain and Andorra.
It was still quite cold in the Pyrenees as we headed for Jaca.

Den was not amused. IMG_20190403_181659.jpg
A bit warmer on the central planes and sierras, around 10c on average.

We had a few days off the bikes in Mijas Costa, then headed back north to Jaca and the west end of the N260 road that runs along the Pyrenees to the Mediterranian. We went as far east as Oix ( pr. Oish) for an overnight stay. The next day we rode back along the N260 so we could then head north over Andorra.

Back home covered in crud, but what a ride.

I did a 300 mile loop around the eastern U.P. on mostly paved roads but I did find about 50 miles of gravel roads to traverse. I ran into a couple of gravels roads that I had to turn around on due heavy packed snow because they were snowmobile trails 3-4 weeks ago. Here are a couple of pics of lake freighters (most likely iron ore carriers) in the mouth of the St. Mary's river and a couple of the mighty Mackinac Bridge (5 miles long) which bridges the Straits of Mackinac, connecting Michigan's two peninsulas.IMG_0113.JPGIMG_0114.JPGIMG_0117.JPGIMG_0118.JPGIMG_0119.JPG

Rode up to Bowling Green, KY and did a 12 hour endurance rally. Sort of scavenger hunt by motorcycle. Rode about 500 miles for the rally. Came home via the northern end of the Natchez Trace after some slab down past Nashville. Pics from the rally.

Fork in the Road in Franklin, KY -

Fountain in Clarksville, TN (I hung my placard on another rider's bike)

Funky Toy Land Museum in Calvert City, KY

Superman statue in Metropolis, IL

The Everly Brothers Monument in Central City, KY

Giant head on the lawn of the Convention Center in Owensboro, KY

That's it for the nicer rally pics. We came in 2nd in the 12 hour. There was also a 33 hour rally at the same time, starting the same time.

After the rally we rode back the slab to get past Nashville traffic, then picked up the Natchez Trace for 200 miles to the house. A few pics from the Trace.

War of 1812 Monument -

View facing away -

Talked the wife into hiking down the steep 900' trail to Jourdan Creek Falls. Very pretty, a few too many wild kids wander around though.

We did another short hike to another falls later, but it wasn't as photogenic. Stopped at the AL/TN border for a quick pic or two.

Had another stop about 40 miles later only to find my wife's GSA with no rear brake and her back rotor was glowing cherry red with the caliper smoking and the final drive leaking oil. I think the caliper just stuck, no idea why. Foot pedal not sticky and she can't drag the brakes by accident, her foot's too small. At the dealer now. No pics of the road side fun. Pulled the wheel and caliper to investigate, then just left the caliper off for the last 35 miles home.

Did a 2000 mile trip from the Seattle area down to Northern California, over to the coast and up the 101.

Ordered my DayLong seat and booked a ride in service; those guys are great. From there, rode the 36 west and south to Ft Bragg (North end of Hwy 1 off of 101 was a TON of fun)

Went north through Hwy 96 which had some great roads. Then back west through Grant's Pass on 199 and all the way back to WA on 101.
