A couple of weeks ago I (and wife) traveled to Florida and rode a friend’s S10 to Key West from Miami Beach. Yep, no gear at all except helmets. Call us squids…

I've always though "squid" referred more to a poor riding style than equipment. How was the traffic on US-1? The last time I drove that route, I was in a 15-passenger van with a dozen guys. Traffic was horrible stop-n-go.

Well, from my point of view, squids “dress” like that and ride like morons
Traffic was nice both ways. A lot of cars and dump trucks but everybody was going fast. The worst part was leaving and arriving Miami.

1st gen blue was definitely the best color and quality of paint. It's what I miss most after updating to the '14.
Favorite color is subjective, but I think the last quality paint job Yamaha put on the Tenere was the Cobalt Blue on the '17. After that they went to mattes, and just white. Even the FJR's paint jobs went downhill.

The ‘18 blue is nice, just wished that the side cowlings in front of the tank were all blue also, instead of matte black with blue accents. I do like my black forks on my ‘18, never did like gold fork tubes.

I can only assume that since was designed/intended as an off-road bike, that those pieces/parts were left unpainted for the inevitable dirt nap.

Took mine to “Le Vercors” in France for a week. ”Iron Butted” home yesterday.
1025 km in one haul, no problem for the MileageMonster. What a bike!
Never missed a beat and how it eats it’s way through the hairpins…E830D9B8-F37F-4B80-8740-2372E3A18026.jpeg52578544-4DE7-443E-ABAD-B4EB6B572162.jpeg

Well over 3000 km’s in one week… Now back to daily rhythm for the time being… (Fcuk… )CE0C96F5-969B-452D-8D5B-D23E6F52E6E0.jpeg

A bit of history today.
San Baudelio hermitage. It seems to be nothing from the outside but inside is unique. Fantastic example of mozarabe (christians living in muslim territory) architecture. The amazing frescoes are kept in several US museums.

Bordecorex. According to the legend, Almanzor (Spanish name for Al Mansur, governor of Al Andalus during the Omeya caliphate) died here. Always accordingly to the legend, he was wounded in the battle of Calatañazor and died here in his retreat to Medinaceli.

Rello. Fortified town.

This is called rollo. When a town was given the cathegory of villa, they were allowed to administer their own justice and the rollo is the symbol for that. A criminal could be hung in the rollo or tied up for lashes. This one in Rello is unique for being iron made instead of stone made as it was usual.

Out to explore more Carroll/Jo Daviess county back roads. Found a few dead ends and some White tailed deer.

End of this road, with a small water crossing.

This appeared to be a private covered bridge.
