I tried to take it out to get pics of it in the snow, of course it won’t start :( I have it on a charger got it to full charge, tried again and it was closer but no dice. So I took the only bike that started out. It has not been started in about 4 months, but fired up before one revolution.

^^ Is that a front brake rotor off a Buell?
:D I get that a lot. It’s an Arlen Ness big brake kit. It works amazingly well despite its obviously over sized state. 13” is a bit over kill. I was concerned it would’ve been grabby but it’s not.

Well,I’ll throw another bike pic up, if this is frowned on I will be happy to take it down. I posted it over on adv earlier it didn’t make it far. I haven’t got the ST to start yet, gives me a bit of pause with really cold riding. I remember one time on the Harley walking out side and over night it dropped to the teens and the bike was froze over. Didnt want to spend another night in that hotel so luckily it started right up and I was off. Not sure the Yamaha would do that

Beautiful. . . . but, you're still crazy. I'm thinking that 11.5:1 compression ratio doesn't like cold weather, and a small battery.

It wouldn’t start been trying for a few days, so hook it up to the car battery and after about 3 rotations it started. Note to self: pack jumper cables
OK thanks for the clarity.
I have read where its OK to "boost" or jump a motorcycle using a car battery, just sure the car is NOT running.

I think the big issue is the battery they chose. It’s really tiny compared to my other bikes. I’ll upgrade when this one goes bad.

The Harley is just 10.5:1 and has compression release cams. Help bleed off cylinder pressure when cranking. If sending the cpu off would fix this it would be worth it. I know having the Harley tuned made starting super quick.

The jumper battery I have claims to be able to start 7L diesels. It doesn't say at what temps though. It'll fit in a side bag.

Although they (Yamaha) don't publish it, all starter motors have limitations.
If the bike, car or whatever won't start then do not keep trying until the starter motor overheats and dies.
I flew airplanes for a living and all airplane handbooks publish limitations on the starter motors. It goes like this, crank the engine for 30 seconds, allow the starter motor to cool for 60 seconds, try again, a 30 -/- 60 seconds start/cool...
If it don't start, it ain't gonna start!!

I didn’t just keep cranking on it, the real issue was a slow turn over due to the cold. Hook it up to a real battery and it turns over faster which started the bike with 3 revolutions. Which is about 3-5 seconds. No harm no foul. After idling for a bit it restarted fine. Just too cold was all.

Well, I'm pleased to hear your bike started with some additional amperage.
Perhaps it was the cold temperatures or the age of the battery. Could be lack of use...gotta question for you.
If you store your bike or don't ride it for long periods of time or only do short rides, obviously all these conditions will likely result in a less than ideal battery condition or reduced voltage.
I store my bikes 2020 Africa Twin and a DR650 for approximately 4 months every year, and never a problem starting come spring weather, cause I place them both on battery tenders for the entire time and just forget about them.
I'm now riding a 2020 Africa Twin DCT and it comes with a Li-ion battery. (reduced weight).
My voltmeter tells me it's about 14.5 volts. That's more than the lead acid batteries used in the Tenere.

I don't imagine the 20w-50 helped either. Especially if your temps are what ours are. Today was 17F for a high.
