My daughter lives in Oakenholt a stones throw from you so I’m over that way often, it’d be good to meet up
Sorted. My bike is in the garage for the winter now the roads are salted.I have been watching ACT on You Tube.I used to race a 250cc Motocross bike in the ACU so I'm used to riding off tarmac. But keep in touch.Which is the nearest town to where you live?

My bucket list includes Nord Kapp, I went there in March 2020 just a few days before the first COVID lockdown. I’ll confess right now I went on the Hurtigruten and got on a coach onwards to Nord Kapp. The coach had studded tyres but had to be led by a snowplough because the road was a trench with 3-4 metre snow walls either side, so I have wanted to do Nord Kapp on my bike for years, so maybe this will be the year or perhaps it will be South of France in May, I’m still pondering because I need to fit in with Mrs Longdog too!
A friend of mine went to Nord Kapp in 2014 on a Yamaha TDM 850. He did it over 3 weeks and he said it rained for 2.5 weeks! He was camping too!
Yes Norway's west coast is known for rain any time of the year.

I have a little story about seeing Mt. Mackinley or not seeing it really.
In 2011 when my boy and I made it to Alaska we were looking at the map and, in the direction, of Mt. Mackinley was these HUGE mountains, we just didn't know which one it was.
This one?

Or was it this one?

Maybe?

Well, I had to go into a store and at the checkout counter I ask the girl which Huge Mt. was Mackinley. She was trying to be polite. by saying , Well that mountain is very seldom seen and it likes to hide itself. I said but it's a clear day and we seen just Huge mountains in the direction of it. Then the guy behind me nicely said " you didn't see anything, If you have to ask this question then you haven't seen it, Besides it can't be seen from here."
That's why I just have to go back.

There is a rest area along the freeway where you can view Mt McKinley when the weather is right, we were lucky that it happened to be an excellent viewing day when we were there in 2007

That area stays so overcast, of all the times I've been to Alaska (mosty work) I think I've actually seen it twice. I always kinda chuckle when talking to people who take a cruise or otherwise get up there and expected to see it but go on about how they didn't.

When I do get to ride to Alaska I will be sure to ride by Mt. Mckinley and not see it! haha. I would like to go see Dick Proeneke's cabin at twin lakes. Not much there but I find things like that really interesting.

In 2016 I trailered my S10 to Fairbanks and then rode to Deadhorse. The Dalton is an awesome trip, but Deadhorse and Prudhoe Bay were kind of a disappointment, don't think I would do it again. Last year I trailered my DR650 and went to Kodiak island. This year it will be Alaska again. I'll trailer one of my bikes, stay at a lodge or rent a cabin, get in some fishing and of course lots of riding.

To have the time, health, and money. The rest will fall into place. :) I like to watch 4K videos on YouTube. They give you incredible ideas. This one has swayed some of our big trip plans. 1080 or 720 will do.
