man you Americans are blessed with some beaut landscapes! nice top box mate
It's all a matter of perspective I guess. I dream of riding both islands in NZ. The scenery is epic. Personally, I'd move from California to the Coromandel area in a heartbeat if given the chance.

I’m about to do my first oil change. Owners manual says 3.6qts. Are a lot of people just doing an even 4 with a filter? There’s no issue with overfilling it a little? Seems a lot easier than messing with the sight glass.
I pour the four quart jug in, and be done with it. I don't let the jug sit there, and drain every last drop. With three changes in, and no issues to date. But like I said, I go from oil light staying on . . . . to "overfull" with less than 8oz.

Yup, that's what I do also.
4-quart jug, pour it all in and done. You won't have any issues.

Changed the clutch and brake fluid today and used the excellent guide to cycling the abs pump, thanks guys.
Also replaced several corroded bolts with stainless steel from Probolt…

I rode my Tenere from the dealer and drove it, on the pavement, gravel, off road and absolutely loved it. The TCS saved my butt a few times I am sure, just a little more torque than my KLR. It was very windy (60k plus). The bike handled it very well, the KLR would have been all over the road. (side wind)
I was a little worried the Tenere would be a hand full compared to my KLR on the gravel. Well its not. The weight is a non issue. I didnt even notice.
One problem the bike has is its ability to make 100 kph feel way to slow. While rideing I was looking at the tach and thinking "look how low the RPM is" and then I notice I had another gear.
The torque is so liner that I found myself looking for a sweet spot, my two stroke was at the top RPM, so was my 650 Night hawk, my supercharged car at the bottom. I havent found one, it pulls like my car with the 6.0 l motor. Just endless power and it seems to just keep coming. I can see how they can call it boring, but it works very well.
At first I had TCS1 on aka the default mode. I hammered on it and thought damn the front wont come up. Then I shut TSC1 off, then damn it came up..fast.
I was on it from 600 to 1100 at night. The lights are very good. In fact better than my 3500 dodge truck.

At 23 kph I did notice a kind of lurching, bucking feeling. But a four stroke with low gearing as soon as you cut the throttle a little, the engine acts as a brake. That big bike has a big engine brake. (Ever notice a guy do a nose dive while jumping his four stroke. He may of cut the power on the ramp and the engine acts as a brake and you nose dive. A two stroke doest do that, just a little info.) I just pulled the clutch in a very low speed and use it to smooth out the ride. That being said I need a little more time at very slow speed to see if it is a real issue to me.

On curves my old 650 Night hawk wanted to go straight of the end. The KLR there was no problem. The Tenere is as nibble as the KLR and sticks like glue and tracks so smooth. Wow.

I would like to say to all KLR riders...you will love this bike, I am not sure why but this bike made me feel like it was built for me. I was right at home on it.

What do I need to do..Respect the power it has.

I feel the same way about my ST. I have never heard of one until I saw one for sale and I thought it was sexier than the ADV competition. But getting on this bike for the first time felt like I've been riding it my whole life.
Glad you enjoy it.

There are some great looking Super10s here! I absolutely love mine! I have a Tenere 700. It's the best off road ADV! Super10 is good offroad but the T7 rips!
I had a T7 with my S10 and yes I have to agree the T7 rips off road, way better then the S10 but that is as far as it gets and the only thing it has over the S10. IMO it falls short on the S10 in everything else, just my opinion.

Second try at fixing the broken pannier...this time I was a bit more generous with the JB Weld, and also added some metal reinforcements. It's not pretty but i think it will work. We'll see.

Got a saddlemen seat to try out. I had a Seat concepts better than stock but still not fully what i wanted. i found the front edges seemed a bit wide and caused some discomfort over time. I have a saddlemen on my DR650 and love it there so got the same for the S10. I Haven't gone the RDL or big touring style seats route due to my riding offroad fairly spiritedly they are not as good for that.

Also chopped and added on a woodcraft folding tip for the shifter.

That's the exact journey I made. Stock to Seat Concepts to Saddlemen - and there's where I stayed. I also need to install the woodcraft I've had knocking around for two years.

great to hear, got a all day ride for Saturday to give it a proper shake down.

on the woodcraft tip i had sat with it on the bench sinch january, before finally putting it on. I did swap to a button head screw rather than chamfering the hole I drilled in the shifter arm to use the included screws. over all it was maybe a 20 min job, and that included manual hacksawing the old tip off, and regreasing the shifter pivot on reassembly.

Mounted up some new tires last week in readiness for my first ride (other than local) since all this Covid stuff began to the Quail motorcycle gathering in Monterey CA on May 14 and will be leaving Victoria BC Canada this Monday May 9.
There’s a total of eight of us in our group with a pretty good cross section of bike makes and riders. Should be interesting. Our ride continues on over into NV , and from there we start to work our way north and back into Canada . We will be gone 2 weeks.
The Mitas E07s we’re removed with low mileage and are to be remounted when I return, for the ride north to Whitehorse in July for the Tenere get together.6710F5C6-543F-475A-9BDC-665DC55AAEF6.jpeg
