I swapped my head lights with LEDs and installed Deftoner's extended caps.
Ran into a problem with left side plug. I see now why that bulb kept cutting out on me. Spliced in a new plug and all is well now.

All in all, it's a nice inexpensive upgrade.

Grate improvement!
I put leds in my bike and I like it very much, did not had the problem as you did.
I like led color light and brightnes much more than the halogen one.
Thanks for sharing

I decided to replace the front tyre and check the Steering head bearings as the steering felt not quite right on my previous ride. No loose play but felt ever so notchy in the straight ahead position on the main stand. Found this . Just passed 10k km and motorcycle bought new in February 2021. I placed the displaced roller, which was stuck to the grease. on the stem for the photo.

Wow! The load in the steering head shouldn't be that big to damage the bearing, what can cause such sitaution? Should had beeng overthight? , as you mention to have the nochy condition will be the advice?

Wow! Now you have me wondering what I'm going to find as my bike also has also developed a heavy notch in the dead ahead position. Parts are on the way as I write. I've changed notched bearings on other bikes before and could not visually tell there was any damage.

I replaced the headstock minus the loose roller and trailered the motorcycle to my dealer. I explained my reason for dismantling the headstock as the motorcycle is in warranty and what I had found. While I was there the headstock was again dismantled and after inspection he thinks that the bearing was damaged when assembling at the factory. New bearings top and bottom are ordered under warranty and so the wait begins.

I was riding (2up and loaded) the Zillertaler höhenstrasse in Austria. A lot of 1st and 2nd gear riding with a lot of hairpins. When I reached a 1st gear incline hairpin with zero visibility and turned in there was a truck with a crane mounted working in the middle! Quick stop and put my foot down, but there wasn’t anything there… we fell over to the right and tumbled off. Scrambled up to push the killswitch. Crane driver helped to put the bike upright again and off we went. Little scratch on the crash bars only. I noticed the handlebars being not straight anymore, so that turned into a roadside repair when we reached a horizontal part.

Being home again I realigned the forks with help of the video on this Forum, very well explained! Can of black paint for the Altriders and a good testride and everything is spot on again.

Very impressed with the performance of the bike in the mountains, I put her through a lot.
I also have to mention that the 100+ octane fuel they sell over there (for little money) is top quality! The bike ran noticeably better and even my fuel guzzling car got out decent MPG numbers.

First I washed it, kinda.
Wanted to try out my new Foam-Cannon.

This thing really makes a lot of foam!

A quick rinse, and a ride around the neighborhood to dry it off.

Next it was on to Tires!

I used to use Ru-glyde from Napa, but I decided to try "Mounting Paste" this time.
I had an easier time with the stiff tires.

Glad it wasn’t worse. Don’t worry about scrambling for the kill switch in the future, the Super Ténéré has a tip over switch that automatically kills the ignition in case of a drop.

My S10 did reach 40.000 km.
And I send it to Yamaha for the service.
There was this recall for the front brake contact, they changed it. (I did not have any problems here, but the rear contact did fail (CC not engage) I just clean the rear and all good again)
Valve checked, nothing to adjust (in=0.16 + 0.14 and 0.13 and 0.13 out=0.25 + 0.26 and 0.25 + 0.25)
oli + filter, final drive oli etc. is of course changed. and all other mentioned in 40.000 km service.
Nothing else to do, and no comment from dealer. 6.000 dkr. (just under 1000$)

A little while ago I suddenly blew both front lightbulb, I had a simple measure thing to put in power outlet on dash, and it was very unstable, and I did see above 15vdc.
Next day when I measured again, and now it was stable on 14.45 vdc. I took a day long ride where I had my professional "multimeter" on, (It can show max.), but still no higher than 14,45.
I contacted Yamaha, and there is still Yamaha warranty on it, so they said bring it to us, and let us look at it.
The result was the same, steady on 14.45, and they told me that the allow up to 14.7 vdc!! (way to high in my opinion!!), so nothing done, and no bill for this, even that they put in new lightbulb.

BUT, I am not satisfied with this, I know that I saw above 15 vdc.
I bought a new "charge ratifier" from them and got 20% discount, but still 2.000 dkr (around 315$), and put it on, and now it always is around 14.2 to 14.3 vdc, much better..
Told my dealer this, but no reaction...so not really happy with Yamaha warranty, specially when it is clear that a new deliver 14.2 vdc and not 14.45.
What does your S10 deliver regarding the voltage?

Other problems....no, not at all

I bought this summer an old Honda NX250 from 1988, and did 2500 km on the Swedish TET track on it. (could easily have done it on the S10, and still have it). I might sell the NX again, it does not have much power)
But.....the new Aprilia Tuareg 660 looks nice, with good spec.;), lets see what happens next year. The 660 ccm engine seems to be stable in the 2 other models.

I’ve never seen more than 14.5 VDC, on my ‘15 ES model, more typical is 14.2 - 14.3 once fully warmed. I doubt 15V would blow the headlight bulbs. I’ve had other bikes that routinely put out more than 15V without blowing bulbs. The left one on mine has blown out twice without ever seeing 15V. Your bulbs probably didn’t blow at once together, more likely one was already blown and went unnoticed until the second bulb blew. I just don’t see any warranty issue with your experience.

Especially if you don't ride at night very much. I park daily facing a wall. I see both beams, so I will know when one goes. I saw an avatar picture recently on here, and there was only one bulb working. Don't imagine he realized it until he saw the picture.

I taught a friend how to moto camp. He used spare gear and eventually decided he wanted a hammock setup too.

Since all the headlight talk,do some of you ride with high beam on during daylight? I don’t currently.
All the time. I want the highest visibility that I can get. I figure the it's hard enough for people to see motorcycles anyway, why dim the lights and become even less visible to other vehicles?

@WJBertrand, thank you for the feedback about the vdc:). So you are sayin that the old ratifier is fine? you can buy it if you want;), I'm for sure not using it anymore. And no, they did not blew at the same time, but for sure at the same day, They did work when I left home that day.

@Sierra1, you are correct, I don't ride in the dark. But almost all my riding are for fun, that mean that 99,8% of my riding, are with at least one other, and we tend to shift riding in front. So my friend saw that suddenly one was missing, at later same day, when we start up after a coffee break, he saw that both was blown.

I'm with Bill on this one. Max visibility is the primary reason. Although I don't know to what extent how much more visible "high" is than "low". The other reason is to not reflect the heat back onto the bulb(s) in the "low" position.

I'm not blinding anybody. This is Texas, where the sun shines almost every day, and everybody wears sunglasses.
