Today, I put the first 168 miles on a brand new 2020 I picked up yesterday. By far, this is the best upgrade I ever bought for my '09 KLR*. ;)
Welcome from Texas. I had expected the Tenere to be just a bigger KLR. I couldn't have been more wrong. . . . which was a good thing.

Today I installed a Quad Lock phone holder with wireless charging. Seems to work great.

I made some backing plates to keep my Nelson Rigg soft bags from wrapping around the Happy Trails luggage rack hard frame. I finished the front and rear edges off with some car door edge guard I had laying around. Before these plates, I was able to clinch the bags down, to where they would not move, but in doing so, I would lose quite a bit of space in the bag. 2 button head bolts on each side that use the same holes for the hard bags, and they are off. I used .040 high strength sheet aluminum. Not too thick, not too thin. The bags feel more solidly mounted now. I run the velcro over straps that go from bag to bag under the passenger seat for some extra security. Looking forward to see how they do next weekend.

Nice plate idea probably helps to keep the soft bags firmed up. How do you like the Nelson Rigg soft bags? Are they holding up, decent to work with, and stable in the wind. I'm leaning toward those as the best inexpensive option that I've searched.

rodeoclone - The bags have worked really well for me. I am very pleased with the backing plates too. They hold their shape much better now. There is a internal plastic form which helps too. I have had them on full time since last summer. I don't notice any wind drag with them at all. Of course I don't notice that with my 35 liter hard bags either. They are a little stiff at temps of 30 degs or lower. A buddy of mine bought a set the same day he saw mine because he was so impressed with the build quality and the price. The yellow really stands out for better visibility in traffic. The inner bags are nice to haul everything out and leave the outer bags attached. Nelson-Rigg really stands behind their warranty too. I have one of their larger tail bags that they replaced with a brand new one when one of the plastic hold down d-rings broke. That old bag was 5-6 years old from my KLR days. I did a low speed fall over with no signs of damage or scrapes to the bag a few weeks ago doing figure 8's in a parking lot. If I needed to, I would buy another set in a heartbeat.

Does anyone have a thread with a follow-along that we can use to clean up that stupid brake light switch? I assume it's just contact cleaner?

That one floated completely under my radar last time I went searching for it. Thank you!

Had the bike for a couple of weeks now, due to the weather and other commitments haven’t had the opportunity to take it out since I rode it home from the dealer, had the time to do a few minor cosmetic changes to it, puts a seat cover on it, couple of minor carbon wraps and also sprayed the skid paint black trying to “black out” the bike a bit! can’t wait for a dry day to take it out for a spin.0F6B7C4F-5FC2-4A32-BAE5-1287E2160659.jpeg2FA73F3F-FCC5-4692-8B94-C56BF273170C.jpegD1B0C40B-9ED4-4F8E-A763-7A31165BDA87.jpeg9573DB5A-59B6-4B41-82A0-308A4648F3ED.jpegC61C017D-0D62-4269-93FA-297F474E5F05.jpeg63130D69-8057-4B3E-95BD-9EF902A3DF78.jpeg
