Tabasco, thanks for sharing, sometimes it's good to see how things shouldn't be done to know you are doing the right thing. I'd never serviced the suspension on a bike until I had the S10 and found this forum, it was surprisingly far less difficult than I expected it to be and it'll be easier next time after inserting a certain bolt in from the opposite side.

The only thing I don't fancy is valve clearances but luckily I've got a decent mechanic who I trust to do it and I know he would do it, the worry for me is paying someone who says they were all in spec but without actually opening the engine!

I got my forks back last night from being rebuilt by Hitchcock ind in Englewood Co. Great guy to deal with. Today we went thru and greased the steering head. Like just about everybody else, the bearings were almost dry. This is at 43000 miles on a gen 1 bike. There were some markings on the races, with no play, but because I didn't have the new parts, we cleaned all of the parts up and re-packed them as well as we could with new grease and put everything back together per the manual. Next time around, they'll get replaced.

The new 1.0 fork springs seem a little stiffer, but I will really find out when I hit some rough dirt roads. Hitchcock left the other settings where they were when I took him the forks. He did go up to 7 weight oil from the stock 5 weight. So I still have lots of room and adjustments to play with.

On another note, today was the first real ride after changing the 2013 clutch basket to the newer stye. Much smoother and seems to be more rev happy. The engine is much happier at an indicated 80 mph to 90 mph than before. With the original 2013 basket, 80-90 mph seemed like the engine was working really hard so I never wanted to go that fast. Now at those speeds, it's a piece of cake.

Upon the the first cold start today, the new Graves manual CCT worked flawlessly. I tried playing with the adjustment today. When it was installed, the slack was taken out then the adjuster was backed out a 1/2 turn and locked down. At start today I backed it out a full turn more with no real difference in the noise. So I put it back to where I started.

Flipped the throttle cable housing 180 degrees to get some cable slack for my ProTaper high bars. Too tight at full lock to the right, I was afraid the cable might get a crimp in it.

I think ~TABASCO~ (look a few posts up from yours) was selling extended cables. Not sure if he still is or not.

I used some extended braided SS brake and clutch lines from Spiegler. I was going to get them from Tabasco but he was having some issues with his supplier at the time.

Went from OEM stock to OEM tall windshield (with extender) and from Anakee 3 to Metzeler Tourance.

I really like those Tourance on the Super Tenere, for me they work very well on the bike and last better that Tourance Next. I found that Next front and the rear in your pic worked particularly well.

I think I'm gonna take off my home-made carbon panels and put the stock plastics back on. Mine look cool and start conversations, but I had an aux light bolt grind a hole in the corner on my ss1k this summer. whatevz. I'll keep them on the shelf or take them to school for the science classes to fiddle with.

I made some backing plates to keep my Nelson Rigg soft bags from wrapping around the Happy Trails luggage rack hard frame. I finished the front and rear edges off with some car door edge guard I had laying around. Before these plates, I was able to clinch the bags down, to where they would not move, but in doing so, I would lose quite a bit of space in the bag. 2 button head bolts on each side that use the same holes for the hard bags, and they are off. I used .040 high strength sheet aluminum. Not too thick, not too thin. The bags feel more solidly mounted now. I run the velcro over straps that go from bag to bag under the passenger seat for some extra security. Looking forward to see how they do next weekend.

Have you tried the screen without the extension? How do you like it? The stocker is just a bit to short for me at 5'10".

Haven’t tried without. I’m 6’3”. Stock with extension was just a bit short for me. Tall (which is 2” taller) with extension is pretty good. The extensions which are a knockoff of the MRA x-creen are about $35 on Amazon, maybe cheaper elsewhere.

New rear tire mounted, got it all put back together and broke in a brand new tire in the rain at night on a 600lb bike lol.

I think you may have pulled your axle too much to the left (shaft side).
Where I have the yellow call-out arrow pointing shows the axle is not flush
with the swing arm indent on top of the pinch bolt. I just had a new rear tire installed
yesterday with a friend and he did the same thing when we put the axle back in and
I immediately noticed it when the bike was on the lift.
If my bike was not tucked away behind my other bike for the week I would go take a pic right now
to better show you but if you really need it for reference I will crawl around tomorrow after work to show you:

Hmm...everything snugged up well, all spacers in place...how would this even be adjusted?

I have the factory service manual and it doesnt call this out...can you elaborate?

Not supposed to be flush! Torque the axle then the pinch bolts. You don't want tension on the swing arm. If yours is flush, I would loosen in all up and do it per the manual.
