120.000 km service done today.
Still no measurable oil consumption between services.
Like at 80.000 km the valves didn't need adjustment (all 4 exhaust valves needed adjustment at 40.000 km).

Side note: I check the tension of the spokes approximately every 10.000 km - no spokes have needed tightening the last 50.000 km.

Fitted Touratech crash bars today. Pretty easy but not helped by crap instructions. Didn’t realise that the OEM crash bar thingies were actually plastic. About as much use as the plastic sump guard!!

Changed the 'tea bag' fuel filter from inside the fuel pump. Panels off, tank off, pump out, filter changed, and all back together within 45 minutes. Piece of p*** to do and well worth it. Might be the 'honeymoon' period but it seems to be running much smoother. Here is a pic of the old filter next to the new one.

The bike has 130,000 miles but i know that filter has looked dirty like that since at least 60,000 miles. Yes....shame on me, I just never got round to replacing it until now.
I'm useless at doing links but if you got to ebay and just search for Yamaha R1 fuel filter, you'll find it.
I don't think Yamaha list it as a part but it CAN be changed (very easily) and it IS exactly the same as the R1 . (Earlier model R1's that is. I think from 2004 to 2012 or something like that

Make sure you take those metal sleeves off the coils whilst you're at it! No fear of them getting stuck/rusted in then
Heyup, I washed tenere yesterday, its now running on one cylinder most of the time, so I reckon it's water that's got into coil somewhere, anyway I'm having a look tomorrow, my question is what is the metal strip on coil that you mention? I'm going to use hmp silicone grease around o ring etc, thanks in advance Tommy Tickle

i did the same as stutrump , 3 yrs ago pulled those rusty rings off the coil sticks as thats what makes them stick inside with corrosion and binned them 15000 miles now and the coil sticks just slide out no issues at all

What does “Piece of p*** “ mean?
