Parked it, killing it with the side stand. About an hour later, when I went to leave, realized I left the key on and battery was well drained....
That has been my method of choice for killing the engine, for yeeeaars. But....THIS is the only bike that I have ever walked away, and left the key on....twice....also to the point of killing the battery.

Interesting on the XP3, what are the dimensions and weight on that? Plenty of starting power? (It indicates it will start a car?!) I have a Happy Trails rack with the space filled with tools and air compressor. I'd have to change something. How often do you refresh the charge?

I took the cable off the batery on my 5.3l gmc and started it 10 times in a row with xp3. I hadn't read the directions yet. It was smoking hot.

My 2nd or 3rd change to my side case mounts.
My first method was very secure, but a bit difficult and awkward.
2nd version was lockable but not as secure as I first thought.
I was looking for a quick easy on/off for my hard bags. Lockable would be nice but not necessary. Wandering through Princess Auto the other day and I stumbled across some toggle latches and a couple of spring latches so I picked up both and figured I would sort something out over the winter.

Tinkering in the garage today I remembered the Tusk mounting system. I pulled out the Spring latches and looked for a way to make them work similarly.
I ended up mounting them in the vertical position. Pull the latch and lock open to remove the cases. Turn 90 degrees to have the spring snap shut and secure the cases to the rack. Had to shim the latch to get the correct clearance, but luckily I had some aluminum scrap exactly the correct thickness.

Simple, quick and seem to work great so far. The spring is very stiff so I don't see them opening and coming off, but I may look into a way to block off the handle so it can't move.
Are these tusk cans? I’ve been trying to figure out a way to put my tusk panniers on my S10

Got the GPS and USB charging pig tail in today and finished the job. I had to drill a couple of holes in the SW mount for the GPS cable and mounting screws for the charging block. I like how it turned out, but finding that I'm not a fan of Garmin Basecamp! :) I'll figure it out. Bike is all back together and ready for a ride tomorrow.

Dirt Baggs is the name of my cases ,but very similar to all the basic Aluminum cases out there.
I use SW Motech racks. Hockey pucks cut to the same thickness as the Motech racks with an aluminum plate to catch the bottom rail. Then this latch to hold the top in place. One latch seems enough, but I might add another for more security later. Top 2 hockey pucks prevent any possible upward movement of the cases.

Inside I have a 2nd sheet of aluminum that gives much more rigidity/stiffness on the inside of the cases. Adds a bit of weight but the cases are much stronger with this and no worry of bolts pulling out. Made out of an old aluminum street sign.

Hi TxCodeMonkey,

I have a Gen 2 2014 ES, I ordered a Pyramid hugger about a year ago, in the same colour as the bike, Yamaha blue. You could also get it in plain black, carbon fibre look, our if you where prepaired to wait 10-14 days they would paint it for you, from your own paintcode colour. If like myself you have the genuine Yamaha " Akrapovic " exhaust fitted you will also need a special spacer piece that has to be fitted to stop it touching in a couple of places. Its a touch fiddly, and a very close fit.
I have also fitted a front mudguard hugger, which certainly stops, a lot of the road spary from the front of the bike. I can't be certain but I'm thinking the hugger was about £150-00 delived in the bikes colour, all painted. Its a great colour match.
Sorry I'm not at home, for another week, away on our narrow boat, if you would like a picture just let me no.
Just had a thought about if you have big knobbly tyres fitted, it might touch, maybe ?
I'm likely going to wind up getting both.

Contacted twisted throttle and they did not seem to want to help. Basically it was "well, don't see it listed", and when I pushed, "nope". Hmmm, just spent $1500 with them, and they don't seem to care. Oh well.

The hugger is listed in the $200 (US) range. I'll probably get the cheapest, gr[a|e]y. I'm pretty well function over form on the bike. Don't care if she is the prettiest at the ball. Just want to be able to get there, any maybe Alaska on the way :D

Started on some post ride maintenance. Took off my Seal Savers and washed them. If you run these, remember to wash them frequently. I’m amazed at the dirt they collect.

Also mounted some new to me footpegs. I’ll have to see how I like them. A big thanks to 2talltoo.69D940FF-0A11-49A6-B15B-343295EE5EE0.jpegACDDBE27-97B7-45F2-9679-02C8E58E6D6D.jpeg

You have to zip tie them on he top, the zippers work really well, making them easy on/off.

@22K miles... I changed plugs, air filter, Harmonized the throttle bodies and installed new rear brake pads. The plugs looked great and gap still in spec. Air filter was fairly dirty near the snorkel entry but plenty of clean paper left to filter...VVZT5228.JPG
I did find a puddle of oil in the bottom left of the airbox so...

Was hoping to hold off till a tire change on the rear brake pads but I thought I heard some metal on metal crime and sure enough...TVFA3066.JPG
Glad I caught it when I did.

This was my 1st time syncing the TBs and the engine does feel more responsive. I set the right-side to 1/2 out and adjusted the left to it.
