How did you get that spring? What is the part number. I actually rode my bike to Race Tech and was told they would have to make a custom spacer with a new spring for the ES model.
There are some plans on here for the spacer. I picked up the round stock aluminum at a local metal supplier and they cut it to the right thickness I wanted (based on the plans) for free. I had a buddy at work make Hal and I each one on a harbor freight lathe. We then purchased the Summit Racing spring (525lb or 550lb I think....). Huge difference if you are over 175lbs.

Did someone mentioned a dirty picture? Since I don't wash mine very often the bike is usually dirty (as it should be since I bought it to ride and not wash).

I also met some locals while out riding. I was worried they might not let me pass but I explained to them that I had a salad at lunch...

Today I put in a K&N air filter. The old one was only 6000 miles old, but after install I fired her up and I think it was the best start since I bought the bike, instant with no trace of lumpiness as it warmed up to tick-over.

Is that filter pre oiled? Might just be the lighting, but it looks pretty dry.

Yes, inside the box it comes in a plastic bag and is damp with oil. I thought I would waite untill the cleaning/oil kit arrived before fitting, but it was ready to go. I will give it 2k or 3k miles then clean and re oil. It's a very long time ago, but I think the one for my XJR was dry at purchase.

This is the slightly longer direct replacement spring that I ordered online but I was told they are discontinuing it.

That's a bummer. Do you by chance have the part number?

I spent a part of today missing my Vstrom. Why? Two words... spark plugs. I decided fit the G-power plugs I bought earlier this year. All I can say is that I hope the person who decided on the packaging job of that engine installation is on Santa's naughty list. I struggled to access most of it due to the size of my hands and refitting the breather to the bottom of the airbox was an exercise in mental dexterity as well as physical. I am not looking forward to the valve clearance check one bit! Still, the job is done and the old plugs look to be in good shape. No rust or anything, so at least I know the condition in that area of the bike. It starts and runs so all I need to do is take it out for a run once the weather improves.

I need a beer...

The only problem with the right side rear master cylinder guard is that the fixing bolts now protrude compared to the recessed OEM configuration. Tends to abrade/tear up one’s boot.

HA HA!! I have the same stuff on mine only in black. The AltRider stuff is really nice quality and functional.

I’ve heard that, and will keep a close look out for it. Thank you.

Last Saturday I finally took possession of my '15 ES. Yay!! Today I installed a MadStad bracket. Looks like it will be a while before I can determine the difference it makes. The next things to install will be Rox risers.
Hang in there, Spring is getting closer.
We put the clocks ahead in four weeks.
