I put my pig on a diet this week. Installed the yoshi. can I bought from panman here of the form and removed the center stand. For a total weight loss of 15lbs. Can't believe how much lighter and faster it feels. I don't notice the added weight of the crash bars, skid plate, trunk, and all the brackets that are needed. To me that's just bling!
It is amazing how a few pounds makes so much difference. My 2010 had all the fruit including Hepco and Becker panniers and top box and was a real pig. My new 2018 non-es, is almost bare. Just a plastic topbox. No centrestand, no panniers or racks , aftermarket exhaust can. Feels like a 450 motocross bike in comparison. I also just bought a dririder soft tail pack for camping as I'm travelling light in future.

Installed the dash plate I bought from Ramseybella
Used some stick on carbon fiber looking sheet I found at an auto parts store.
Added the switch for the LED light bar I installed back on post #11764 and another DC outlet with a 10 amp fuse.
I may add some edge trim on the radius to prevent the cables from rubbing.

Completed my 52K valve clearance check/adjustment, albeit at 54+K!. 3 of 4 exhausts we’re out to the tight side by 0.003-0.004”. All four exhausts now at 0.010”. Intakes on cylinder #1 were perfect at 0.005” each. Cylinder #2, the intakes were a bit on the loose side at 0.007” (0.0063” is Max) I left them as is for now since I believe they will tighten with mileage. Biggest challenge was getting the exhaust cam holder back on. It just won’t go if the dowels are misaligned a fraction of a degree. I changed the CCT to the latest P/N that superseded even the one installed in my ‘15 model. The newer tensioner (left) definitely looks different.

The nice thing about using a new tensioner is I avoided having to reload the old one. I bought one of those cheapy WiFi boroscopes and was able to snake it in and confirm that the tensioner had deployed properly. I was concerned about that report where the CCT plunger somehow missed the guide and ended up bearing directly against the chain.

Views from the bottom:

You can see the plunger pushing on the back of the guide (grey bit) like it’s supposed to.

No problem with the deployment, just a light tap on the back of a screwdriver against the guide with an dead blow plastic mallet. Pop! And it was done! Turned the engine over half a dozen times and rechecked timing marks (what a PITA to see those marks!) and all appears in order. Put a new set of plugs in while I was at it too. Tomorrow I’ll finish reassembling everything, cross my fingers and push the starter button.

Tried out my new to me Wilburs rear shock and Anlas Capra X tyres.
Did a road ride of about 100 miles yesterday and about 40 today on minor back roads with plenty of mud leafs debris.
The Wilburs has definitely firmed up the whole back end and when you hit a pothole on tarmac road surfaces the bike now seems to glide over it and the back end doesn’t seem to get all out of sorts. The tyres performed without any real issues.
On the muddy slippy back roads the Wilburs help to keep the back end tight and Anlas tyres give very good grip.
Here are photos of both the Wilburs and the tyres.

Let's start a thread and share your daily happenings with your Tenere..!!

For me, I got it outta the shop and rode it home..
Gave it a good wash down!!

Here's a attached photo of me wiping my new ride!!!
Hmmm I'm envious and just wish I could ride this time of year. We had that white stuff last night. Hopefully we will be able to ride come April.

Same here. This is Maintenance Season for me! I've recently fitted a pair of twin tone horns. Much louder than stock and fitted them to the factory crash bars. I had a set of these on my Strom after the Denali Soundbomb decided it didn't want to play at being a horn anymore. Less than £10 on eBay. They don't interfere with the steering at full compression and the sound projects forward, rather than downwards like the stock horn.

Changed the CCT to a manual one. Engine sounds really smoo20190104_083353.jpgth now. Hopefully a couple of pics attached here. You may be able to see how I zip tied the chain to keep it under tension and I also used a socket to wedge the camchain slider in position whilst removing the old CCT and fitting the new manual one. Easy job and all went well

A few months ago I bought a set of Rumbux crash bars from a fellow inmate here who got into an accident. I'm fully convinced these Rumbux crash bars either save this person's life or save them further injury! I had to do some work on them I had to heat them up with my torch bend them... fit them to the bike let him cool off over and over again till I got them right then I brought them down to bare metal, primed, painted them. Believe it or not everything in the paint was from a rattle can Rust-Oleum and Rust-Oleum metallic in the red color matches the red of my bike just about perfect on other parts such as the altrider luggage rack I painted that with the metallic but black and it matches on the Matte Black Metallic side cowlings absolutely perfect if anybody was thinking about painting any parts. On the metallic Parts I put a matte clear coat on there and on the red Parts I put a semi gloss clear coat. Finally got around to mounting them I scraped them a little bit... paint wasn't fully cured had only been curing for a 48 hours but I wanted to get them on the bike to allow the paint to cure while they are mounted. you do have to manipulate them a little bit whether you got them wrecked or brand new no big dealio... allIMG_20190108_100029.jpg crash bars are this way.

More views I was just going to paint the crash bars with the Matte Black Metallic like on the lower side cowlings but a combination of a couple other members with the color crash bars and my wife talked me into making him a little bit different and be honest I'm glad they did.IMG_20190108_100019.jpgIMG_20190108_100019.jpg
