I was looking through some old posts and saw somewhere a reference to instructions for installing a secondary sheet metal instrument panel covering the fork opening. Sure would appreciate directions back to it. Thx

Did you make that or buy it?

Also is that 3M dynoc on the side wings? (also on the filler plate?)
The winglets came with the bike and the previous owner wrapped them. I'll probably rewrap them to make all the fiber run the same way.

The filler plate I found for sale used on the Tenere USA Facebook page.

Here's the wrap I used. It laid down really flat and smooth.

Decided to clean up the stained/spotted header pipes.
Since I just got the bike, and the rest of the bike is so clean, it was one of the first things I noticed.
Here's a tip for the future. Some fine steel wool ( I think I use 000, could be 00) with a bit of AL polish ( I have Mother's) gives phenomenal results in about 15 minutes. If you want extra shine, follow up with some aluminum polish on a rag. Takes little time, and requires very little effort

Took my FZ1 pipes from a similar before stage to looking pretty good in a total of 15-20 minutes. Not 100% perfect, but damn decent.

Thank you for the tip!
I'll try that in the future when it comes time to shine them up again.

My last few rides reminded me how cold the hands get as the temps start to drop.
Made some spoilers for the stock hand guards, huge difference. I have Oxford heated grips on the bike but the stock guards don't move the air high enough and even with the grips on my hands still get very cold.
Probably get a set of Barkbusters with the storm guards eventually, but these are working for now. DSC01142.JPGDSC01143.JPG

I installed a Mic Tuning 8” light bar and 4” square spots. I used a Skene light controller for dimming function. Install was pretty straightforward. I suck at electrical stuff, so I took my time, and it all came together pretty well. I’m still going to install a 3 way switch so I can have some additional brightness options, and I need to aim the lights, but I’m happy. The alert feature on the Skene is really nice.

Your spoilers look nice ! What’s that material you used ? Someone should be making and selling those things.

Spoilers made out of an old rubbermaid tote lid I had lying around, nothing special.
I stumbled across a picture of a nice set of spoilers awhile back but forgot to save the pic. They were really nice and looked aftermarket, but I could never find the picture again. May have been a homemade and if so the guy took his time and did a really nice job.

Replaced my rear brake pads today, @ mileage 10K kms/6200 miles. That's not exactly the rate of wear I had been expecting. I do use the rear brake and I do practice a little in parking lots or at our local DMV facility every now and then but WTH.

Not much of a mystery though on closer inspection and when I had everyhing apart. I enjoyed about 200 kms/120 miles of good old-fashion gravel roads in early September (check out my videos of Jotunheimen road and Peer Gynt road), and also in the course of that had to run across about 30 meters/100 feet of foot-deep, fresh gravel in a construction zone. I guess especially the latter gummed up the brake rotor with silt-like sand that wore out the pads.

Wash my bike? Nah. Who's got time for that? I'd rather ride ... I used to wash and polish my Electra Glide every Friday afternoon for the three years I owned it, that's about a total of three weeks of my life wasted right there. Besides, my Super Ten looks a lot better with a layer of grime.

I'll start hosing off the rear brake rotor, though, whenever I've enjoyed som old-style roads.

Checked my spokes, at 5400kms, rear had about 6 that needed torquing up, 1/4-1/2 turn each.
Pinged the front, all okay with 'ping' test, then thought I'd check with the torque wrench as it was at hand. Holy CRAP!! All but two needed torquing, some a full 1 1/2 turns until 'clicked'. So, moral, if they pass the ping test they are either all tight or all loose. I'm still scratching my head wondering how...........

Fixed the extremely excessive amount of movement in the factory rubber handlebar riser bushings.

I went down the street to ACE Hardware and got 2 thick 5/8" washers, and 2 thin ones.
Mounted the thick ones on top of the upper clamp.

Used the 2 thin ones underneath.

Tightened it all back down, and it is rock solid now!

I also mounted 2 fresh tires. The original Battlewings that came with the bike were finally done...............

They had 8250 miles on them.

Some fresh rubber, bought on sale at Performance Cycle here in Denver.

Finally got round to swapping the normal ram mount for the touratech locking mount + off set mount. It fits nice and secure and lifts the sat nav
enough so not to block the indicator warning lights.

Not sure I like the view from the front now with all the metal work, obviously the satnav is secure and can now be left in place whilst paying for fuel etc but looks kind of 'agricultural'
I have ordered a Dakar sticker to fit on inside of the screen to assist with blocking it out - will see how it looks in a few days :p

I washed the MABDR off it and banged the ACD skid plate back into shape. It took a hell of a whack that also bent the front rim in a water crossing.

Been watching the weather reports out of Texas. Wholey Cow!
Finally let up yesterday and we had some sun after some overcast. Great riding today heading back to MS. Spent the day going slow and stopping to play tourist. Paris, TX has a replica of the Eiffel Tower... I've been to Paris, France. That was kinda funny seeing their 'replica'. Great Veterans Memorial next door though. Really well done and moving.

Stopped in Magnolia, AR for the night, home tomorrow.
