2nd day of rain rides. Did a Home Depot run. Caught a tropic style downpour. Cleared up mostly for the ride back. HVAC filters stuffed lazily into one side case the other filled with bleach and Simple Green.
What causes soap suds to appear on asphalt in a hard downpour? I even had some on my concrete driveway.
I smell like a wet dog.

Yeah. Be careful. Long time ago I knew to be careful if it hadn’t rained for a while, oil and whatever comes up out of the asphalt first thing.

Just reread this… on your driveway might be a bit difficult if you don’t have anything that takes diesel fuel…
Do you live under a flight path?
Live near a major highway?
There’s a lot of airborne chemicals that can come to rest a distance away from their source.

Trees? I know some tannins from trees act like detergents and cause foaming.
Which is why, when there has been a heap of rain for a couple of days or a significant downpour, I will go from riding in the wheel ruts made by normal vehicles to riding in the middle of the lane.
People say that it’s bad to do that but, after a fair bit of rain, the road starts to break up and massive holes appear. The crap in the middle of the lane is washed away and you usually miss any road damage that hides in the water.
That was the other option I was going to say…
There’s a breed of gum tree that attracts a black spot as a result of pollution or other airborne rubbish. When a heap of rain comes through, it washes off. That’ll create foamy bubbles…

Where do you wash your car or bike? I know for a fact that soap will dry and leave an invisible residue. Was making a tight u-turn at a coin operated car wash. I got too close to one of the bays, and the ass end came around like it was on ice.
