The 705 are a great tire for what they are intended to do, they are a street/dirt road compromise. Not great at either but great at both depending on your intent.
The Michelin Road you posted are fantastic on tarmac, they will SUCK on gravel.
Last season I ran the Mitas E07+, they are an excellent choice on gravel when loaded with gear but other wise IMO there are better options.
You put on the right shoes for the job, sometimes that may mean swapping out for a trip.

Agreed. I have a set of AX-41s with a thousand miles on them in storage. The 705s won't be thrown away either. Still quite a few mil left in them. It's good to have something to spoon on in case of bad luck. I´d like to do the Great Lakes loop early next Summer so no dirt for a bit.

I currently have a set of A41 Bridgestones on my S10 and the front is about worn out at 9000 Miles. It has worn with no visible cupping. I am going to mount up a set of the Shinko 705 tires to run this winter into spring and will be using a new set of Bridgestone Battle Wings for a couple of trips in June 2023…..they are my go to tire as they wear evenly, feel neutral, are good in the rain, and don’t cup if balanced.
I run 36-38 psi in the front and 42-43 in the rear.

Tire time! Getting rid of the Shinko 705 that I've hated from day 1.View attachment 97018View attachment 97019
It's interesting to me how different we all are in our riding of the same bike.
I'm actually getting ready to go in the opposite direction. I have those Michelin right now and they are incredible on the road but they hinder my ability to explore forest roads. If you ride mostly street (and curvy roads) you'll love them.

Painted up my Holan Pannier Frames. Refitting them took my storage area off which was bolted to an Altrider Rack top plate. You can guess the rest. Am going to chop up the other bit and use it to reinforce it. Split right across between the 2 back holes. My opinion is they cheaped out on the thickness by 1mm. Wonder what they would have charged to make it properly.

I just got my bike back from the dealer. I had both the wiring harness and headlight harness recalls performed... the last one was a struggle to get them to do but in the end it got taken care of so I'm happy.

While they were in there that deep, I had them perform a valve adjustment, throttle body sync, new plugs and clean my K&N air filter. I also had them install a Graves Manual CCT so that I can get in front the inevitable issues related to the OEM one.
The valves were all in spec, though right on the edge. I wish they'd have called and asked me if I wanted them put in the center, but being a dealership they have their process and that's not one of them; if it's in spec, it's in spec. No need to shim anything. I have a local shop mechanic that I occasionally use, so I'll definitely have him do the next valve adjustment. Small, privately owned shops around here tend to be the only places that still give stellar service at a reasonable price.
I just read the note on my service sheet related to my MCCT. "Tensioner set at base setting but customer need to adjust to their liking." It's a little noisy, so I guess I need to tighten it?... not sure why they didn't, but again, whatever.

Finding a good dealer in Nor Cal is about impossible. This one was better than most but not as good as many of us would like. Their front desk people are great, I'll give them that. It's the little things that mean more work for me later that I find a little irritating but again, in the end the bike runs so it's all good. Other than having to learn how to tell if my MCCT is tight or loose so that I can adjust it myself, I am pleased. Honestly, I need to learn anyway and I think I read somewhere where @~TABASCO~ described how to tell if it's adjusted correctly.

PM me your name/ number. I can tell you over the phone. To much to type. Should take you 10 min to check and adjust.

I mounted/balanced a new front Shinko705 tire and while the front wheel was out I dropped the steering stem to inspect, clean, re-grease,and torque the steering stem bearings. All looked good with no looseness, no notchy feel, and plenty of grease from the factory.
I took the bike for a 110 mile ride……the 705 is no A41 tire….that is for sure, but I expected the rumbly feel.

My S10 is in for its annual MoT, and the tyres, (Michelin PR5 Trails), are getting low on tread, they have done 9000 miles so they deserve a change. I told the workshop to fit either Continental TA3 or another set of Michelin PR5 Trail, depending on which they can get at the moment. As I had to leave it there, I thought they may just as well do a service at the same time. This wet winter weather is making me lazy!

Very mild for where we are in the year though.
