The Yamaha standard tool kit that comes with the bike, has a perfectly adequate plug spanner to complete plug removal and install.

Plug servicing is straightforward and a logical process. The only hassle (I think it is) is reattaching the centre hose underneath the airbox, however extra long, long nose pliers make this very simple.

Standard fit plugs are fine and perfectly suited to the job.

Deftoner...i agree with the other comments. It's a piece of p***. Do it and yes, the plug spanner in the bikes tool kit is the best thing to use

Elricfate...thats a pity but you'll soon find a plug spanner that will reach.
I'm not looking. I have universal joints and sockets. I'm just saying that offering the advice of "it's in the tool kit" is not going to be helpful in some situations. While appreciated for those of you WITH tool kits, not everyone has one.

Installed EBC pads on the front. Old ones (oem) were in good shape and only 1/4/-1/3 down. In my experience, I haven’t felt much difference between them. We’ll see.

I also thought it was odd that he used silicone on his coils instead of just putting dielectric grease in them.

I agree, it's just something to stick the coils in that will need to be cut through to enable you to get them out next time around. I wonder if there's a concern the heat from the engine would cause the grease to lose viscosity and run down the bores?

I believe his goal was water tight. grease wont achieve that with long service interval in replacement.

I don't understand that, though. 11th Generation Ford F150s have a 100k mile interval for plug changes and we just use dielectric to seal the coils and boots against water intrusion. The interval for changing the plugs on this bike is far less than that.

I mean, to each their own, seriously, I'm not one to call someone out for something. I just thought it was odd, and if he has an idea in his head, then that's fine. I feel like sealing them at the top is overkill, but that's me, I also don't ford many rivers, so what do I know? :)

The design of how the coils sit in a F150 is substantially different from the bowl of the S10 that allows standing water to collect.
It rains for me 5 days a year. I'm not worried about it. But if I lived in Seattle or something....
