I did put everything back together, after the install of heatet grips.
And latest news about that:
I went to the Yamaha dealer, and they have a used S10 (from 2015) that have retrofittet the heatet grip, they have the same lenght as the ones I got.
Then we measured on a new 2019 model with no heatet grip, and they was also shorter than mine OEM fittet not heatet....strange....
and last we measured on a new T7, they have the same lenght as my OEM not heatet grip, really strange.

When looking at their parts catalog, I did get the correct heatet grips.

And when looking here at home, on Yamaha's webpage for parts, it also is the correct heatet grips I got.
I looked at a EU model ZE fittet with heatet grip OEM, (I believe it is the same as the ES model), it also is correct.

I also checked the airfilter and airfilter box, now that I almost was there, no to much dirt on filter, no oil in box or hose.
And I did spray the gas tank underneath with some spray to prevent rust, the painting is also very thin on newer S10, and where the bracket is attached on top, there was already some rust :-(

Conclusion:
There is nothing to do about the "missing" 6 mm on the right hand side.
And it seems random on which bike Yamaha put the grip, there is a bit longer.

Those using the YTZ14 battery, is this a direct swap and has it actually improved starting (taking into account that a new battery probably would anyway), also, anyone one had a 14 in place for a good while now and if so is starting still generally better than the 12 battery.

For this topic, I’m referring just to turning the bike over and NOT the hard start issue.

i bought a YUASA YTZ14S and its a straight swop bike starts so much stronger
bike will start so much quicker and better with a 14s, don,t bother buying a 12s

Hi Bimota, when you replaced your battery, 11 months ago, did you go for one that had the 330 CCA, our a lower rating one instead perhaps ? I've seen the 14 advertised with only a 260/270 rating, at various websites, ebay, plus others.
Just curious because mine is on the battery tender all the time whist at home. It's always started 1st time, within seconds, but it just seems to be a bit slower than my 1st Gen 1 was.
I have to admit that once when my wife started the tenere up, so she could move it, to get her Gixer out from behind it, she turned the key, but didn't wait for it to do its complete cycle, and it took a few turns to get it started. I have now educated her to wait whist it does its full cycle, before starting it.
All i have to do now is get her to wash it, and i'd be on a winner, don't you think !!!!!!!!

Replace one of your usb plugs with this. This specific one is USB C and USB but the make dual USB ones. Ive been using it a few months now and am happy with it.

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R8JV1LX
I like the idea of that, USB-C PD and QC 3.0, along with a voltmeter in what is, likely, a truly waterproof setup because of the singular nature of the lid (see-thru instead of split to cover ports like the usual ones) -- the reviews on it, though, are iffy. Lots of "it failed relatively soon", etc.

Amazon has another one of those standard voltmeters coming to me, so I'm going to seal it up with some additional RTV just in case, and try putting it on the bike again before I go nuclear and try to replace the current USB power ports. My thought is that it wasn't the temperature that killed it, so it was either poor QC on the electrics, or the relatively low moisture in the atmosphere somehow got into it.

Just looked I've had it 7 months. Used daily. Can't speak to the waterproof as it rains 3 days a year here. But the cover does seat well and I wouldn't worry about it.

Hope the new one works for you!
