Steering head bearings re-greased today. Lots of grease already in there so I just gained peace of mind that it had been done before I owned the bike.

Only the valve clearances left to do. And maybe a new camchain tensioner while I'm in there.

Bought a whole bunch of crap I probably didn’t need. Jesse Luggage 10” bags, Fastaway Stainless pegs, Barnett billet pressure plate kit, Off The Road billet slave and shift lever, Garmin 276CX. Too much snow & cold in buffalo and my junk is in the shed so it’ll wait.

In totally envious.
I fired up my snowblower this morning and cleared the driveways.
Just walked downtown (35 min) for coffee and some exercise. It's minus twenty centigrade or minus four Fahrenheit, for my friends to the south.
Ride safely

Replaced the lighter socket with a voltmeter/USB charger, new AGM battery, and new Battlewings. Looking forward to spring.
Nice tyres, I run the OEMs until they need to be replaced.
I got approximately 15,500 KM (9,000 miles) on my OEM tyres with my Africa Twin. All city- highway very little gravel.
What can I expect of the Battle Wing tyres?

Tried others and went back to the OEM and am very content with them. Just make sure you get the "E" series as the others wear too quickly. Their price is very good and road/trail traction are great for my style of riding. I burn through them pretty quickly @4k-ish for the rear and about 2-3x that up front... Heavy handed I guess. Age is finding me more on than off road now and these are surprisingly good on trails and dirt roads and the like. Wouldn't dare use them in sand, mud, wet grass, etc. Guessing we have similar weather and we're both champing at the bit. Love riding your Province.

Yup, enough of the snow and cold. I'm in SW Ontario, Canada. OEM tyres are the Battle Wings and the "E" series are recommended. Hopefully my 2018 model has these "E" series. Thanks for the info...

When I first got my bike, I noticed that the back tire was squaring off rather quickly. I realized I was downshifting too early; between the compression of a big twin, and the front weight bias of the bike, I had to let the rpms drop more. I also learned that when unladen, with the linked brakes, using the front lever is enough for MOST braking needs. Once I stopped sliding the back tire when slowing, my tire lasted MUCH longer. It's not the heavy hand, it's the heavy foot. Your result may vary.

Installed a Scorpion LiFePO4 battery yesterday that I got from www.Batterystuff.com. 387 CCA! - this baby cranks strong but more importantly, it catches with fewer revolutions.
Keep us posted on how well it performs.
I’ve been running an EarthX ETX24C since March 2014 with good success. Still working well but it’s resting voltage is just starting to drop off and looking for a suitable replacement.
I find it definetly cranks over a bit faster than the YTZ12S it replaced. Slightly higher cranking voltage shows up nicely on the acc. volt gauge. Would consider another Earth X but they’ve increased in price dramatically to the price now of $390.00 CA so looking at other options.

All excellent and valid points. However, certain constabularies may disagree. And yes, they do square quickly which I try to keep in check with gravel lathing.
