What tools to take

So I'm going on my first tour next week, only 5 days from South Wales to Scotland. There's a large group of us going and all staying in hotels so no camping gear. What I'd like to know is what tools should I be taking? I don't have the stock tool kit on the bike as I used the space for a home made fuse box. I always carry a puncture repair kit and tire pump, cable ties, a plier type multi tool, should I be taking anything else?

The tour is all on road around 1,800 miles, I've fitted new rubber, serviced the bike etc, I have breakdown cover.

What do you carry?

Cheers.

Hi YOYO!
I’ve bought a few years back an RRR tools kit and add a small ratchet to it. You’re good to go for a long time just miss a few upgrade to covers 100%of you tools need!

I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
Very little. I go 30-75 miles from pavement with no phone service. I look at it like this, Im not going to take a cylinder head off in the middle of my camp site no matter if I had the tools with me or not. But I want to fix a minor thing like headlights not working or take off a damaged part, adjust the clutch cable etc.

Basic stuff I take with me
2 screwdrivers, set of hex heads, few sockets an extension and ratchet, 1 vise grip 1 regular pliers. Leatherman multi tool. Edit to add. making sure I have the right sizes to take off the front and rear tire, including the calipers.

Duct tape, some wire, fuses, couple splice connectors. Basically enough to fix a broken phone charger wire or bypass a relay to get my aux lights back working.

Small jump start box. I know its easy to push start the bike, but I'm going to carry a power bank with me anyway incase I need to recharge my lantern or tablet. So mind as well have something I can use to jump the bike with too.

Most important things.
Tire repair kit.
Air pump.
Small gas can.

Your question is what do you take,

The standard tool kit is on the bike, which includes axle size spanners.

I made up a small tool kit in a vinyl type wash bag, which includes, a small selection of ring spanners, 8,10 and through to 17, an axle Allen stub thingy, a set of smaller sized Allen keys, a few cable ties, some latex gloves, pliers and a small multi headed screwdriver tool.

I've toured every year since the mid 80's, often more than once a year and the tools are rarely used, and when they are it's not often on my bikes and sometimes not on a bike at all.

I also have a tyre repair kit and pump under the seat.

It comes down to what you are comfortable doing. Flat repair you seem to have covered. Sticky strings, I hope. ;) Be able to remove panels, so 4mm allen. Just in case you need to jump the bike or diagnose.

At this point, I prefer to carry what I need to pull the wheels in case I need to get a tire replaced. Its far easier to get a shop to R&R a tire if you have a loose wheel than if you ride the bike in and want them to pull it. It has made the difference between a two day hotel stay and an "oh, we can do that" that took 20 minutes or less.

After that, what things did you do to the bike that you may need to access? Carry tools for that. I carry a butt load of tools and usually end up using them to help someone else. My stuff rarely has issues, knock on wood, because I did it, so know what I did and what might be suspect.

Make sure you have correct power supply cable for your pump. The factory cig lighter plug is only 3 amps and won't support a pump.

As mentioned already, a booster pack or mc scaled jumper cables. You've got most everything else covered. A credit card is always nice to have.
