We've Moved to a New Host

Tonight I moved us to a new host. We were still on shared hosting before, which was not where I wanted to be. As of now we are on a super-spiffy VPS that can be upgraded in near real-time. So as the forum grows and demands become greater I now I have a pathway to keep things running smoothly.

For the moment, we are operating under the domain "worldtenereforum.com." This is probably a bit confusing. In order to move to the new host, I had to repoint the yamahasupertenere.com domain to the new host, and it takes time for all the domain records across the globe to get updated. Rather than wait for that to happen I'm using the worldtenereforum.com domain temporarily. Once all the DNS records are pointed properly I'll switch us back to the yamahasupertenere.com domain. So don't update your bookmarks!

If anybody sees ANYTHING odd, PLEASE post it in this topic.

Thanks for your patience,
Venture

Update: we should be back to 100% functionality now under the regular Yamahasupertenere.com domain.

Again, if anything funny is seen, please let me know.

Me too, and overslept this morning on top of it. I must have been VERY relaxed knowing that we were on a new host, allowing me to sleep in. Ya think?

Great job (again) Chris!!!!

Even with our slow internet, the site is very fast this morning. Nice.
I've been keeping an eye on things all morning, and I've NEVER seen this kind of snappy performance from the other host. Tapatalk is wicked fast now as well.

I think this was a good move, well worth the increase in running cost.

I still need to see if I can tune the home page a bit. It takes about 3-4 seconds, I'd like to get that down to 1-2 at the most.

Mobile phone software for forums. Works with iPhone, Android, and a few others. I really don't use it myself, but I support the use of it here for the members.

Hey Venture,

I assume you're setting things like content expiration for static objects so user's browser's don't have to re-download static content..... ::013:: ::008::

I thought it generally worked the other way around - most browsers cache static content by default unless:
A. The user turns off caching
B. The source file says not to cache the content (set in-source, server side)

I am not using the nocache directive anywhere that I know of, so caching should be occurring.

Thoughts on this?

Just came back up for me.

The site speed feels good.

Couldn't log in until about 10 minutes ago but I am fine now.
Looking good now. Thanks for the work Venture. ::008::

Cheers
Graham

Venture, since the changeover when I log into the forum at work it goes directly asking for an administrator log in. It also doesn't recognise my log in and password. U am using google for my browser the Explorer.
Thanks Jeff

Something is cached at work. Try hitting CNTRL-F5 to refresh and get the page anew.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend Mozilla FireFox (get it from mozilla.org). IE is a terribly slow POS.

Hey venture,

I just tried to click on the small thumbnail photo's that combo posted up

here ...http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=3064.45 and got...

Have I been naughty?

[edit] I just went back to get the link and now the post has disappeared. So maybe it's a Combo problem?
It could be he posted and then deleted before you clicked. That would cause a message like that.

I see he definitely has a post there now with two attachments. Check again and let me know what happens.
