I’m off on a long trip soon and am planning on using my phone for routing/directions, however I’m little concerned over how it’ll cope with rain, possibly lots of rain as I’m heading to Scandinavia. My current phone is an iPhone SE (2), which has an IP67 waterproof rating.
Anyone have direct experience of iPhone resistance to rain on a bike?

I’m not looking for case ideas/solutions, just knowing are they actually waterproof.

I don't use mine for directions, but I do for music. I just keep it in a zippered plastic bag. Completely waterproof.

I'm still an Android guy, but evidently enough guys have had your same question that they've made a bunch of Youtube videos about how waterproof (or not waterproof) they are. I won't list them all, but here's a couple that pop up immediately when you google "is an iPhone SE(2) waterproof?"

I figure that actually seeing someone turning their iPhone into a submarine would give you some confidence in either using it or not using it on your trip.

The bigger issue with phones with optical image stabilization (which the SE2 has) is that the image stabilizers can be damaged by high frequency vibration, the exact kind of vibration you find on a motorcycle. If you're going to mount an SE(2) on your bike, you should look into a vibration dampening mount, so you don't ruin an expensive phone. Quad Lock makes one specifically to address this problem.

I used google maps for my routing while in Wales, have previously used TomTom and Garmin. I’m impressed with the GM set up. Will used it in future. I guess it’ll become difficult abroad once we lose data benefits as a result of Brexit.

The problem in rain is that having a touch screen means it can start to act really funny.

And while the phone my be waterproof (or not) the electrical connector is definitely not designed to carry power when wet. I burned up a Samsung that way.

simply download the maps where you are going to travel to the phone, and then use them (“offline”)…..If you want to use the phone and take care of it….the screen would be the right accessory….
