Water infiltration Left Side Case

Has it happened to anyone?

It's the second time that I find water inside the left side case .

The first time I had travelled several kilometers in the rain and when I found the water I came to doubt that I had not properly closed the case (it is sometimes a little difficult ... "seems to be" closed, but it is not) .

Today, after a short drive in the rain I left the bike outside ... It rained often during the day. When I started the bike tonight, mindful of the previous episode, I checked:

- The suitcase was regularly closed
- There was water, inside, collected in left front corner :'(

I checked the seals that seem to me ok, and are regularly tightened the inside screws that I believe are related to that sort of protection (external) for the exhaust (I guess something could filter here).

Any ideas?

Thanks for attention

I had no problems so far with that and I had driven it around in some heavy rain here.

No water ingress here ..... I'll have a good look at the construction tomorrow and see if I can throw any light on the matter. In fact I'll jet wash it to see if there's a point of failure.

No problem with a water leak after washing mine with a hosepipe.

Hello, im frm singapore n my agent sell the panniers saperately frm the machine... Cost me sgd1.7k (about USd1.2k)n realised that its not worth the money.. The panniers tend to open by itself during vibrations.. I also dont kinda like the plastic hook which holds the lid.. So i sold my panniers for HB ones!! Slightly more bulkier but better in workmanship

Cheers

The only reason I usually stick with the factory side cases is the way the integrate with the bike. I tend to ride a lot without the side cases and I really don't like a frame mounted on the bike. This is one of the reasons I like BMW's approach on most of their bikes. The Yamaha OEM cases are mounted thanks to a support that's not to big. Just a small bar on top and a support on the pillions foot peg. If they were sold with a big frame sticking on the bike, I would never agreed having them in the adventure first edition pack. Just one more small note: using OEM cases does mean you only need one key (ignition, seat, tank, cases).
