So, I've been emailing with a rep at Altryder, Lyndell Jensen. He says they need to sell 100 Pillion racks to justify a run that'll make money. If we can get him 50 names and phone numbers, he can push it with the bosses. He has three or four folks now. His email is lyndell.j@altrider.com

So, let's look at it this way.
What does everyone want in a rear rack and pillion rack for the Super Tenere?
I think 20 pieces to start would be doable.

- Tie down locations (RokStraps or similar)
- Givi hard luggage mounts?
- Snap lockable storage?
- Is overall weight a concern?
- Something that doesn't break...
- Does it need to be anodized or powder coated

I just saw that thread yesterday for the first time. I just installed an Altrider rear rack and, while it seems pretty sturdy, I'm planning to use it solely to hold a drybag so I'm thinking it'll work ok. As I read the thread, it seemed to be that most of the problems were with racks that had boxes mounted that, because of the leverage issue (connections at front of the rack but not close enough to rear) the rack would flex and stress crack. If the idea for building pillion racks doesn't fly because folks don't sign up, I'll be ok with having put it out there for the folks who were interested. Thanks for the head's up.

1 yes, 2, nope, 3, nope, 4 not really. (I'm the one that needs to lose weight) 5, yep, 6 nope.
7. Rotopax compatible
8. Even surface from front to rear
9. As close to frame-mounted as possible (for security and stability)
10. flush-mounted bolt heads (Yep, I recognize that's part of the problem with the Altrider's recessed bolts)

I have an uninjured Altrider tail rack, so I'm only really interested in a pillion rack that would fit with it.

- Something that doesn't break... Yessir, although I haven't had a problem with my Altrider tail rack.
- Does it need to be anodized or powder coated .......I think my Altrider tail rack is powder coated black, or at least it has a black finish that I'd like to match.
- Something along the lines of the discontinued Altrider pillion would be fine.
