Hi everyone, my first post on here but have been lurking for quite a while. While riding back from the NW200 road races here in n.ireland my abs light came on. Once home did a few checks to no avail . Did everything suggested on this. Forum .so my final option was to take it to a main dealer. The outcome of this was a faulty abs. Pump showing a reading for rear brake pressure. The only suggestion was they could replace it at£1850. Plus fitting!!!!! So not willing to jump a.t this offer I decided to send it over to England for testing and repair. Unfortunately they couldn't . They do plenty of GS's but the big Yam's pump does not read on their system.
So my hunt is on for a secondhand pump in the uk or even Europe. Does anyone know of a breakers , shop , or an individual that may have one at a reasonable price. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have seen one or two on ebay lately. Not sure if they were across the pond or not.

I am sure you probably have already have done this, but before I would shell out that kind of cash I would make sure to flush the system several times. Also cycle the abs several times, ride for a bit, flush again, cycle abs, flush again etc to make sure it is as clean as possible.

Probably won't fix anything but worth a shot. If you haven't cycled the abs in the garage there are instructions on here somewhere to walk you through it.

Good luck.

There are those here that have bypassed the rear brake portion of the pump altogether. Could be an option.

Thanks for the replies guys. Tried recycling but to no avail hence going down the second hand pump route. I did see a couple on eBay, but they are in the states costing £800.-£900. And being in the uk we are charged 20% vat and also import duty at 4.5%. I did consider bypassing the abs but the bike is due an mot test here and showing the dash light would be a fail.

Clearly not enough people wreck Super Teneres. An FJR or FZ07/9 gets wrecked every 47 seconds, so those ABS valves are cheap.

If you're of a mechanical bent, take it out of the bike and take it apart. Most cases the solenoid has stuck due to contamination or corrosion. You may be able to clean it up a bit and re-assemble with success. You have nothing to lose, even if you destroy the unit, your other alternative was to buy an expensive replacement part. I can buy a new ABS valve block 23P-85930-09-00 for slightly less here in the states than the used ones being sold on ebay. That's just silly. The used ones should be half that price or less. The wreckers are all thieves that butcher parts and take things like wheels apart too far to be of value. Annoying to me.
