Maybe I am doing this wrong, but I was trying to figure out how to calculate the volume in liters of my side case which are Givi Trekker Outbacks. The dimensions are 19.4 X 12 X 15.2 and this is listed as a 48L case on Givi's website. However using various liter calculators online and in a spreadsheet I come out with these dimensions being 57.9 liters. This is based on 1 inch being 2.54cm, multiplying WxLxH, convert to cm, divide by 1000.

Should I not be getting the same dimensions as listed in the specifications for this case, i.e. 48liters ?

Your math is right. Sounds like a free 10L. Or maybe any volume from the lid isn't counted? Inside vs outside could make a difference, too. Dunno.

1 cubic inch equals 0.0164 liters so your math works. I would also be suspicious of the dimensions

You might want to try this online calculator. I’ve used it for different things of many different shapes:

I measure my own case and it corresponds to the dimensions on the manufacturer site, so the dimernsions are right..

Looking at a top case that claims to be 42liters I get the same kind of discrepancy. You'd think if they were going to make mistakes it would go the other way. So weird.

The lid possibly, but I think I included that when I measured my own case. And inside outside would not make a 10l difference, its sheet aluminum with only a few rivets on the inside. So weird

I have often wondered about capacity claims on lots of stuff.
My tankbag is supposedly 15 liters but have seen other brands of tank bags claiming 30 liters but the listed outside dimensions are actually smaller than mine ?

I think that in case/suitcases and bags, the cubic capacity that can be contained inside is not measured, the measurement in liters refers to the cubic capacity of "space" that it occupies (that is why it is measured as a perfect cube or rectangle)...
To cube something that is not a perfect square/rectangle…you would have to use integral functions…which is more complex

Our biggest hotel is over 5k rooms. Most are "only" 3k rooms or so. Contrast that to most major cities anywhere in the world where hotels with 500 to 1k rooms are considered huge. Our smallest strip hotel is around 400 rooms, Four Seasons, which occupies the top floors of the Mandalay Bay Hotel's structure and that is considered a "boutique" hotel. Its also non-gaming, which is unusual for this town.

And we're adding more rooms, Fountainebleau is coming online either this year or next year with about 3.5k rooms. It doesnt end
