Still?! o_O The one I rode was an '04. Was on it's 2nd shaft, and 4th clutch. Because when a shaft goes. . . . it takes out the clutch. And, if the clutch isn't installed perfectly. . . . the clutch eats itself, and one of my clutches was not installed perfectly. 16 years later, and shafts are still failing? Sounds like the definition of insanity to me.

What a mess is BMW making with this, still after all those years same problem. I'll stay with the blue from Japan.
I think alot of people who buy these bikes have more money than sense. Also they px them before the warranty runs out. They get such good reviews but iwould love to see a poll done as to how many reviewers actually own one.

I can assure everyone there are long term, real GS riders who love the bikes way past warranty.

I had lunch today with my good friend Steve. Many of the Romney riders will forever remember Steve as the guy who submarined his GS with the headlight shining brightly under water.

I can report Steve still loves and abuses that same GS today. He's not babied it in any way. It has been reliable as a hammer, and he can't bring himself to get rid of it. Despite repeatedly putting (refundable) money down on other bikes, then being unable to give up the GS.

So, not all of them fall apart upon warranty expiration.
